‭Luke 12:13-21 NIV‬
[13] Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” [14] Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” [15] Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” [16] And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. [17] He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ [18] “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. [19] And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ’ [20] “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ [21] “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

Matthew 2 [NIV]

[vs: 1] After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem

[vs: 2] and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.”

[vs: 3] When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.

[vs: 4] When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.

[vs: 5] “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:

[vs: 6] “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for out of you will come a ruler
who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.’”

[vs: 7] Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.

[vs: 8] He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

[vs: 9] After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.

[vs: 10] When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.
