Pleasure Before God
Signs of the Times
2 Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV
3 But know this, that in the last days [a]perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

If it feels good then do it! That is the mantra that many are living by today, after all, as they say, YOLO! (You only live once!) That is the deception that Paul talks about, a generation of people who are pleasure seekers more than they love and seek God.
This is a generation that is driven by self and to them, nothing is taboo as long as it brings them pleasure. There is no self-control, no boundaries, rules are there to be broken, this is the generation where everyone finds their truth and they pursue it as long as it brings them pleasure.
Even in Church, it becomes about self and we want things that will entertain us. The worship becomes about us and our gifting and not about the God we purport to worship. If the sermons do not stroke our egos and make us feel good then we will move on to the next church where we can hear what our itching ears want to hear.
Loving God and serving him comes with disciplines in life that we must hold on to. To serve God is to not give in to the desires of the flesh. To love God is to allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit of God and to put to death all the desires of the flesh. It is about God and not self to love God and to serve him means dying to self.
As the Bible says, may we seek after the kingdom of God first above anything else. May we run after God and die to ourselves, may we seek to please him in all our ways.

SELF FORGIVENESS.

- We might at times forgive people and people might forgive us but we must forgive ourselves.
- There are things which we did but we keep on regretting.
- If you keep on carrying forward the baggage that continuously pulls u backwards, it becomes part of you.
- Your situation is a stepping stone to your destiny.
- God gives us a new name and we have a reason to celebrate.
- You have to pass through something for you to be a conquerer. You cannot be crowned if you don't fight.

Hebrews 12:1

Therefore since we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses....
- We must overcome the sin that easily entangles us.
- We should look at those who have made it. They continuously tell us it is possible.
- You should abandon that sin in order to liberate yourself.

Todays message 23/6/19 ~ Joshua Mulwa.
Your Responsibility in Christ.

2nd Timothy 2:1-13

- Paul begins by calling Timothy, My son.
- At this time he wants to remind him, that he has born him in Christ.
- Paul had a testimony about Timothy.
- He tells him "be strong" __ He wants him to start being ready for the ministry.
- Timothy had seen all the things that Paul used to do, he was hence not new to the ministry.
- Paul doesn't tell him to wait for God's grace, but he wants Timothy to decide by himself to serve God.
- Paul tells him, to stand like a soldier. He reminds him that no soldier in line of duty gets entangled in civilian pursuits.
- He tells him to reflect on the things he had taught him.
- He tells him, therefore i endure everything for the sake of the elect that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus.
- Paul wants Timothy to know that even if they die in the word of God, they will also live with him.
- He tells him, God will always be faithful.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally be strong and in His mighty power, put on the full armour of God so that you can stand against schemes of the devil.

* All the things that Paul taught Timothy, are the things that show you the responsibility that you have in Christ.
* You are today's Timothy because Paul already spoke and we are still reading his word.

Walking by the Spirit to be Spiritual

Romans 8:14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

There are three dispensations.
1. The time of heavenly God.
2.The time of God the son.
3.The time of the Holy Spirit.

John 3:5 ....unless one is born of water and Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Gal 5:12...
A person who is led by the Holy Spirit bears all these fruits.

There are three sins against the Holy Spirit.
1.Blasphemy, This sin is committed by non believers.This sin will never be forgiven.
Herod was immediately struck after giving his speech blaspheming the Holy Spirit, people like Ananias and Sapphire were struck for lying to the Holy Spirit.

The other two sins against the Holy Spirit are committed by believers.
2.Griefing the Holy Spirit...Eph 4:30
3.Quenching the Holy Spirit...1st Thess 5:19.

Today's word.
2nd June 2019.
John 10:1-10
- The sheep is a follower.
- God is saying that nothing can take us away from His love. As Christians we should follow the voice of our Master.
- If we truly understand His voice, we shall stand still and move only when He speaks.
- If Christians truly hear from God, they will not follow strangers.
- There is nothing that can take us from the presence of God but you must do something. The Bible is saying in John 15:7 if you abide in me and my word in you, ask for whatever you want and it shall be done for you.
- You may pray for long hours, but the guarantee and assurance of God's response to your prayers is only abiding in God and his word abiding in you.

THE JOY OF TRUSTING GOD.
~ Message by Rev Joshua Malombe

1st Kings 2:1-3
-David had started to trust God when he was a small boy.
-By this time he had become old.
- He called Solom and told him

To prove himself to be a man.

*This meant that he was asking him to prove his identity.
* He wanted him to discover himself and know his purpose in life.
* When you discover your identity, the great person in you will be known.

When you know God, you will prosper.
*The word of God gives character.
*The word of God builds in a man or woman a firm foundation.
*With character you will proper.

Habakuk 3:17

Though fig tree may not blossom nor fruit be on the vines ....
* Habakkuk was saying even when there are no rains like now, even when there is no food in the fields like now, on his side, he will have joy in the Lord.
* A person who trusts the Lord will have joy in the Lord irrespective of the prevailing circumstances.

Walking with God.*Pst Judy Mutua*

Psalms 41:11-12
- By this i know that you delight in me: my enemy will not triumph over me.
- But you have upheld me because of my integrity, and set me in your presence for ever.
- We have to have the right knowledge for us to experience the presence of God. This is not something to go looking for but it is something to carry within us.
- When you have integrity, God will uphold you and set you up.
- You are so important if God allows you to carry his presence. No one should belittle you or put you down in anyway for you are what God calls you.

Galatians 5:23-24
In the presence of God, you will have to have the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

~Love involves sacrifice and giving up something, you forsake the things you used to do. David said he won't give God what doesn't cost him.
~joy ...the joy of the Lord is my strength. If you lack God's joy you have not strength.
~Peace....this is being composed even when there is no hope around you. You always relax in every circumstance.
~ Patient... We always wait upon the Lord who will always come to your rescue.
~ Kindness... A kind heart gives.
~ Goodness...A good person is that person who will help you without relying on what other people say about you without being chased by other people's opinions. That person will keep the secrets of your family and won't tell them to anyone.
~ Faithfulness... A person who keeps commandments and promises. Being faithful is a daily thing.
- Everything you do even at office and at work place counts for your faithfulness.
- You should always carry the presence of God everywhere.
~ Gentleness.....This doesn't mean keeping quiet. A person who knows that he/ she carries the presence of God knows how to be self disciplined and has self-control. They don't fight even when wronged.
~ It is futile to defend ourselves so that God will have a place to prepare a table before our enemies. There is no day you will enjoy your table away from your enemies.
~ Do not accept to be what people call you rather than what God calls you. You can't be what people call you but what God calls you will never change.

UNDERSTANDING THE VOICE OF GOD.

Daniel 10:1-3
Preamble.

Whatever situations you are passing through are just trials and are not your destiny.

-Daniel saw a revelation.
- A revelation comes before a war and this helps you to be prepared.
- The moment you stop seeking God, no revelation will come, you will start consulting people, you will run and be weary.
- It is prudent to understand the voice of God.
- Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things shall be added to you.
- The revelation to Daniel was so true .
- The understanding of the Vision came from the Holy Spirit
- We should always be alert.
Daniel 10:12
- Do not fear Daniel, set your heart to gain understanding and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard and i have come because of your words.
- God will hear you depending of how you set your heart to wait upon the Lord. It is good to command our mind and hearts to wait and listen from the Lord.

Joshua 5:13-15

JESUS DEFENDS JOSHUA.

-We don't know it was morning or evening.
-Joshua had a sword on his hand but here he sees another man holding a sword.
-He moves close to establish on which side was the man. The man responded that He is the commander of the army of the Lord.
-Joshua fell down and worshipped Him for he recognized that no one else would bear such a tittle other than Jesus.
-He rose there with two things.
* To be used of the Lord to fulfill His word.
* To lead the Israelites to the promised land.
Joshua 6:1-2 Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the people of Israel. None went out and none went out and none went in.
And the Lord said to Joshua, see i have given Jericho into your hand with its king and mighty men of valor.
- Jesus had come to fight for Joshua and defend him in his responsibility to enter the promised land.

GOD DEMANDS THE WHOLE OF YOU.
- Before God touches your body, He passes through your mind.
- When your mind is not healed, God will not correct you.
- God needs your body, mind and soul for his work.
- The body desires to sleep, always guard your body against sleep in the Church.

Exodus 23:14-17

John 4:23-24

There are over six hundred laws in the old testament.They were divided into three categories.
Moral law,
Ceremonial law and
Civic law.
- For God to love you, you must give yourself fully.
- In the new testament we are told to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable and in true worship.
- You are the altar of God. Your heart is the altar and the dwelling place of God.
- When you guard your heart, you are guarding Gods altar.
- The body is a vessels that carries both body and soul.
- The body carries God because your heart is His dwelling place.
- God is in us....This is the principle of the new testament.

Thanks giving service.

Desiring the knowledge of God.
Gen: 18:16-18.
1 - To understand who is God, just read the word of God.
- The Bible teaches us to know God.
- When the Bible says ...and God blessed Adam, it brings the knowledge that man is a blessed being. *You are blessed but not cursed*
- V 17 God says, shall i hide from Abraham that thing which i do ?
- The the problems we have in marriages today can only be solved by having knowledge of God.
- Lack of knowledge of God hiders one's service to God.
- Your knowledge is your limitation.
- Knowledge results into effectiveness of what you do.
- You may not go to the university, but if you want to progress, search knowledge.
2- Knowledge is very important.

Colossians 2:3 In whom are his all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
- Knowledge is never kept on the table for easy acquisition, it must be sought. You must pay the cost.
- It is through the word of God you will know how to pray.Commitment in the ministry of God depends on the knowledge of God that is in you.

Rom 1:21 The time they knew God, they didn't give God His due glory.
- The Bible says my people perish due to lack of knowledge.
- If you want to go far, read the word of God.
