PASTORAL VISIT TO A PASTORALIST’S HOME
Text: Luke 10:1–10
One day, a young, vibrant, and energetic evangelist from a distant community paid a pastoral visit to the home of a church member who was grazing his cattle. As they talked, the evangelist began asking questions:
Evangelist: How much milk do your cows produce?
Church Member: Which one—the black or the white?
Evangelist: The black.
Church Member: Five liters per day.
Evangelist: And the white?
Church Member: Five liters per day.
Evangelist: Where do they sleep?
Church Member: The black or the white?
Evangelist: The black.
Church Member: In the barn.
Evangelist: And the white?
Church Member: In the barn too.
Evangelist: Your cows look healthy. What do you feed them?
Church Member: Which one—the black or the white?
Evangelist: (Now clearly annoyed) The black!
Church Member: Grass.
Evangelist: And the white?
Church Member: Grass.
Finally, the evangelist—concerned and irritated—asked:
“Why do you keep asking whether it is black or white when the answers are always the same?”
The church member calmly replied:
“Because the black one is mine.”
Surprised, the evangelist asked:
“And the white one?”
With a smile, the church member answered:
“It is mine too.” 😂😂😂
LESSON
People are the most sensitive “planet” you will ever deal with.
When Jesus sent out the seventy-two in Luke 10:1–10, He instructed them to walk in wisdom, sensitivity, and discernment—to know when to speak, when to listen, and when to move on.
Not every question is necessary.
Not every curiosity is wise.
Not every truth must be explored at every moment.
Sometimes the issue is not black or white, it is respect, timing, and understanding people’s hearts.
