The Battlefield of the Mind
Saturday, 5th August 2023

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 (NIV)

The ability to control one’s thoughts and all that goes into one’s mind is a factor that distinguishes a mature Believer from a spiritual babe. Whatever you allow to happen in your mind is what controls your life in the long run. You cannot have a negative mind and live a positive life. As a man thinks in his mind, so is he (Proverbs 23:7).
Our reference verse of scripture today defines the scope of what we should allow as our thoughts, which, ultimately, lead to our actions and control our lives:
• Whatever is true
• Whatever is noble
• Whatever is right
• Whatever is pure
• Whatever is lovely
• Whatever is admirable
• Whatever is excellent and
• Whatever is praiseworthy
So before you allow a thought settle in your mind, pass it through the eight tests above. If it does not pass, then you have no business thinking it. Guard your eye and ear gates and ultimately, your heart, so that information with the ability to derail you from a lifestyle that pleases God can have no control over you.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
We are already assured of victory in the battle of the mind, because the weapons we fight with are not carnal. You can, through Christ, demolish every stronghold and take captive every thought to make them obedient to Christ.
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NIV)

Point to Ponder
• Give careful thought to the information you expose yourself to. Steer clear of whatever would cause your mind to become defiled and eventually, destroy your life.

Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for the victory You have granted me over my mind. I submit my thoughts and my reasoning to be obedient and conform to Your Word from now on. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Quit the Excuses!
Tuesday, 25th July 2023

“…O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” Exodus 4:10 (NKJV)

Look around the world today; there are innovations and breakthroughs across every sphere of life. This makes it appear as if nothing is impossible anymore, once you can arm yourself with the right tools and resources.
Despite all of this though, there are times when we feel inadequate in the face of the goals and assignments God has given us. Deep down within us, there’s a sense of unworthiness that hinders us from moving forward. This is why many people leave their burning desires and dreams on the back burner, making all kinds of intelligent-sounding excuses for not doing them. No money, not educated enough, my parents did or didn’t do this or that...The list is endless.
But here’s good news for you. Natural impediments can never stop God from carrying out His assignment in your life. Only you can do that, by seeing yourself as being small, just as the Israelites did when they went to spy out the land promised them.
Many times, God sends us on assignments that appear contrary to our natural abilities or inclinations. Moses brought his stammering card out as an excuse and God brought a resource solution – his brother, Aaron. Look around your circle of friends, family and colleagues. There are bound to be some among them who can complement you in your assignment.
Strategic alliances could catapult you and whoever you partner with to heights unimaginable. Moreover, even with as angry as God was at Moses’ unbelief, He still remained His greatest cheerleader by assuring Moses that He would be with Him. He has promised you the same.
Friend, know with absolute certainty that the Spirit who raised Christ from the dead is the One who dwells in you. Don’t leave the power He brings dormant!

Points to Ponder
1. What goals have you pushed aside in unbelief or dismay?
2. Who can you team up with to achieve your God-given goals? Ask the Holy Spirit to show you your strategic partner(s).
3. God is with you and has promised never to leave you.

Prayer
Dear Lord, please forgive me for all the excuses I make and grant me the wisdom to leverage the people and other resources You have provided me with, and step out boldly by faith to do all Your bidding.

THE LIGHTHOUSE DAILY REFLECTION
Grace, Grace!
Monday, 24th July 2023

The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you. 2 Corinthians 13:14 (TPT)

Grace is a central theme in the Bible and is a foundational element of our salvation. Through Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross and because of His boundless love for us, we have freely received forgiveness for our sins and access to eternal life. We have been reconciled to God and empowered to live transformed lives.
The grace of God is what empowers us to be all that God created us to be. Grace provides us with the strength, wisdom, spiritual gifts, talents and resources we need to carry out the Father’s will. God’s grace helps us beyond our inadequacies and shortcomings, granting us divine power and ability to excel in all things that pertain to life and godliness.
As we journey deeper with God and become more intimate in our fellowship with the Holy Spirit, grace is released upon us to accomplish all that God has mandated us to. We deepen our relationship with the Holy Spirit through prayer, by immersing ourselves in God’s Word, worship, and being more attentive and prompt to obey His leading and instructions. He speaks to us through gentle nudges to our hearts, inner conviction and His still, small voice.
One of the most dangerous weapons of the enemy against us is distraction from the consistency of daily fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Developing deeper fellowship with the Holy Spirit is not a 100 metres dash, it’s a life-long process of intentionality. It's a daily journey of consistently growing in sensitivity to His presence and learning to rely on His guidance.
We must, therefore, guard this aspect of our calling from the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and all else that distracts us from hearing and following the Holy Spirit, with all diligence.

• Do you have a fail-proof system to ensure consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit?

Prayer
Thank you Lord, for stepping down from Your position, level and status, to my position, level and status, to bring me up to Your position, level and status and sustain me there. I make a renewed commitment to go deeper in my fellowship with the Holy Spirit, even as You empower me by Your grace. In Jesus’ name.

Marching Orders
Tuesday, 11th July 2023

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

Let’s paint a mental picture. Imagine for a moment that there’s a platoon of soldiers supposed to engage in battle with a group of insurgents in a remote area. They are all geared up and ready to go, very confident they have all it takes to neutralise the enemy. However, there’s one thing missing; they haven’t received specific instructions from their chain of command, to know exactly what to do and where to go. They’re trained, they’re ready and eager, but they need orders.
As Believers we have a mandate and a mission, which we will not successfully achieve if we are not careful to receive specific instructions from our Commanding Officer. We have our general instructions as a Body, but each of us also has specific instructions for our particular assignments. God has placed certain desires within us and orchestrated events in our lives to show us aspects of our assignment, but we still need clarity on the details of what we must do.
This clarity only comes as we take the time to pray and spend time with the written Word consistently, thus giving His Spirit within us the opportunity to communicate to us exactly what we need to do at every phase of our assignment.
There really is no other way, there are no shortcuts. Yes, there’s a place for others to bring God’s Word and instruction to you, but primarily, you have the responsibility to tune to Heaven’s frequency and know what you should do about God’s assignment for you.

Points to Ponder
1. Do I know where I am at the moment in the programme of God for me?
2. Do I know exactly what I’m supposed to be doing right now?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please open my eyes to see and my ears to hear, so that I can gain understanding about what You are doing in my life and what Your specific instructions are for me in this season. In Jesus’ name.

THE DAILY REFLECTION
Fill Your Mind With Good Thoughts
Thursday, 6th July 2023

“Now my friends, I want to say this to you. Fill your minds with thoughts about good things. Think about things that are true, clean, right, and lovely. Always think about things which people know are very good. Remember what I have taught you. Remember the message that you heard from me. Remember what you saw when I lived among you. You also must do those same things. God is the one who gives us peace in our minds. He will be with you. Philippians 4:8‭-‬9 (EASY)‬

When you are overwhelmed by a particular situation, you, most likely, spend a lot of time thinking about it. Such thoughts weigh you down, causing anxiety and sometimes, even leading to serious health issues.
When faced with anxious thoughts, we must intentionally cast them upon Jesus. Casting our cares on the Lord means we trust God absolutely and fling all that burdens us on Him, knowing that He cares for us and has the ability to change the situations..
Instead of worrying, God wants us to fix our minds on His Word through meditation – the process of deliberately focusing on a specific verse or passage of scripture and reflecting on its meaning, in the context of God’s love. It becomes a process by which God’s Word comes alive in our minds.
When we are burdened with negativity, we can counteract the thoughts by filling our minds with what God's Word says.
There are many reasons in the world today for us to be anxious and lose our peace. We must remember God’s instruction to fill our minds with things that have virtue and are praiseworthy; things that clearly show us that God remains dependable and trustworthy, no matter the negative winds that may blow.

Point to Ponder
• Your absolute trust in God and His Word will release you from anxiety and as you focus on the greatness of God, your problems will become shadows in the light of Him.

Prayer
Dear Lord, I choose today to focus my mind on Your Word and all that You have spoken over me this season. I cast every care upon You, trusting that You are in control of all that concerns me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

THE DAILY REFLECTIONS

Dare to Believe!

Wednesday, 5th July 2023

“Jesus told his disciples: Have faith in God! If you have faith in God and don't doubt, you can tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it will. Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith.” Mark 11:22-24 (CEV)

God is moved by your faith, not your tears or complaints and certainly not your threats. It is necessary to have this understanding when you approach Him on a matter.

Faith in God comes by dwelling consistently on His Word. When you consistently focus on what God has said concerning what you may be going through, you increase your faith level for the situation. What you consistently behold you eventually become.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

Faith in God supersedes any physical law and can bring about a miracle. It grants you access to the realm of the impossible and to have or do things that defy the natural.

Peter replied, “Lord, if it really is you, tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come on!” Jesus said. Peter then got out of the boat and started walking on the water toward him. Matthew 14:28-29 (CEV)

Don’t lose your focus on what God has said this season, because of the report of men or the situation of things you may be seeing. Keep your eyes fixed on what God has said. If you believe, whatever you ask in prayer can be given to you.

Points to Ponder
1. What do you dwell on? Focus on what God has said concerning you and don’t let doubt or fear rob you of what can be yours through faith in God.
2. What are you trusting God for? Search out the scriptures that talk about it and keep going back to God with them until your change comes.

Prayer
Dear Lord, I believe Your Word. Whatever You say is truth. Help me to never lose sight of Your ability, but to always fix my eyes on You, irrespective of the situations that come my way. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Follow the Instructions
Tuesday, 4th July 2023

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16‭-‬17 (NIV)‬

The easiest way to fail an examination is to assume you know what is in the mind of the examiner when you see the questions. Following instructions is the difference between failing and succeeding, as they grant you clarity about the mind of the examiner.
We have an instructor – God. He sent us here for specific examinations and has provided us a guide and manual with specific information and instructions. If followed correctly, they will enable us to live the victorious life we have already been given in Christ..
It would be wrong of us to live by assumptions or to allow ourselves to be led by voices other than God’s. That would clearly be setting ourselves up to follow a path of failure.
Our responsibility while on earth is to search out our specific instructions and follow them in absolute terms, as we go about our every day life. This not only sets us on the path of victory, but also puts us on the path of purpose fulfilment.
In a world where so many voices seek our attention, let us pay careful heed to God's Word; to follow and do as He instructs us. Then we will have good success.

Points to Ponder
1. When last did you open God’s ‘Instruction Manual’, to read it and understand His mind concerning you for this season?
2. To be instructed requires you to stay in the place of waiting to receive what God is saying. Do not be in a hurry to make a move without first getting instructions.

Prayer
Dear Father, help me live a life that follows the instructions You have laid out for me. Let me never be in a hurry or live my life based on assumptions. Help me to follow You closely, as I navigate life daily. In Jesus’ name, amen.

THE DAILY REFLECTION
God Has Good Plans for You
Monday, 3rd July 2023

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Our lives are defined by seasons. Some seasons are good, while others are not so good. However, when you are in a relationship with Jesus, your life is no longer lived by chance, as God uses the seasons you go through for His glory.
Some seasons are meant to prune you, change you and make you more like Jesus and in some seasons, you bring forth much fruit. Whatever the season, God has a good plan for you and all things work together for you to fit into that plan.
As God waits on you to grow and develop in seasons that prune you, the faster you align with His will, the easier you will go through the seasons and see His plan for you unfold. Remember that whatever you face, God's plan for you will always be good and He is working all things out for His purpose.
While you wait through whatever season may come, trust God's process. Rest in God’s loving arms and allow Him work out His good plans for you.

Points to Ponder
1. As you go through the process of waiting on God through the ‘unpleasant’ seasons, open up your heart, grow and learn what God needs you to.
2. Wait patiently on God and let your heart trust His good plans for you, no matter what wind may blow.

Prayer
Dear Father, I trust Your plans for me. I know they are good and that no matter what may come my way, You will make good all that concerns me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

THE DAILY REFLECTION
Saturate Yourself in Prayer
Saturday, 1st July 2023

Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. Philippians 4: 6-7 (TPT)

It is becoming more difficult by the day to keep a sound mind, free from anxiety and fear, in the times we live in. But that the whole world seems to be experiencing turmoil of one sort or the other has not changed the instruction of God’s Word that you are not to worry about a thing. Fear and worry paralyse. They weaken your faith and take from you the ability to calmly wait on God as you live by obeying His instructions, which is the key to inheriting His promises.
Be reminded today that whatever you may be experiencing presently, you are not in it alone. God, your Father, loves you unconditionally. You can cast all your cares on Him, telling Him every detail of your life without the fear that He might rebuke you or look down on you. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and can stand before Him without any sense of guilt, fear or condemnation. You can go boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy and grace whenever and as many times as you may need to.
In other words, saturate yourself in prayer. Talk with your Father throughout every day, taking all your requests and concerns to Him with thanksgiving. An attitude of gratitude, even before you receive tangible answers to your prayers, is a high demonstration of your faith in God and all He has promised you. And the peace of God that passes all human understanding will garrison and mount guard over your heart.

Points to Ponder
1. Saturating yourself in prayer is the key to living the life of victory and purpose fulfilment you are called to, no matter how situations and circumstances would want to make that impossible.
2. Prayer is simply talking to God, your Father about anything and everything.

Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for Your great peace I receive when I pray in faith with gratitude, which assures me that You are working all things together for my good.

Victory Verse

THE DAILY REFLECTION
The Right Shepherd
Friday, 30th June 2023

And I will give you [spiritual] shepherds after My own heart [in the final time], who will feed you with knowledge and understanding and judgment. Jeremiah 3:15 (AMPC)

A tadpole looks like a tiny, baby fish, so it is easy to catch a bunch and keep them in a little pond, hoping that as you feed them diligently with fish feed, they will grow into bigger fish. This process, however, would, rather, probably destroy them, because tadpoles grow and metamorphose into frogs, toads or salamanders, not fish! Even though they look very much like baby fish.
One who would want to catch tadpoles to raise for any reason must know exactly whether they are actually toads, frogs, newts or salamanders and what they need to grow – the right atmosphere, food and care etc.
Because only God, who created you, knows your specific, pre-ordained purpose and what is needed for your successful ‘metamorphosis’, it is important that you allow Him plant you in a local assembly and under a pastor, rather than choosing one for yourself.
God will plant you where He knows you will be in the right spiritual environment and get the spiritual food and nurture you need in order to become what He has ordained. How you appear and what you may be doing right now might be nothing like what you are to metamorphose into. Your unique purpose is unveiled to you progressively.
Planting yourself in a church instead of allowing God to lead and plant you under a specific pastor may end up hindering rather than facilitating your growth into what the Lord has created and called you to be. Your Father knows the shepherd after His heart for you.

Point to Ponder
• Becoming a member of a church should never be based on feelings or any other externalities. Let the Holy Spirit, who knows God’s heart concerning you, guide you to the shepherd He has prepared for you.

Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for ensuring that I will be spiritually fed and nurtured properly, when I allow You to plant me in the right church and under the right shepherd.

Victory Verse..To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV)
