THE DAILY REFLECTION
The Right Shepherd
Friday, 30th June 2023
And I will give you [spiritual] shepherds after My own heart [in the final time], who will feed you with knowledge and understanding and judgment. Jeremiah 3:15 (AMPC)
A tadpole looks like a tiny, baby fish, so it is easy to catch a bunch and keep them in a little pond, hoping that as you feed them diligently with fish feed, they will grow into bigger fish. This process, however, would, rather, probably destroy them, because tadpoles grow and metamorphose into frogs, toads or salamanders, not fish! Even though they look very much like baby fish.
One who would want to catch tadpoles to raise for any reason must know exactly whether they are actually toads, frogs, newts or salamanders and what they need to grow – the right atmosphere, food and care etc.
Because only God, who created you, knows your specific, pre-ordained purpose and what is needed for your successful ‘metamorphosis’, it is important that you allow Him plant you in a local assembly and under a pastor, rather than choosing one for yourself.
God will plant you where He knows you will be in the right spiritual environment and get the spiritual food and nurture you need in order to become what He has ordained. How you appear and what you may be doing right now might be nothing like what you are to metamorphose into. Your unique purpose is unveiled to you progressively.
Planting yourself in a church instead of allowing God to lead and plant you under a specific pastor may end up hindering rather than facilitating your growth into what the Lord has created and called you to be. Your Father knows the shepherd after His heart for you.
Point to Ponder
• Becoming a member of a church should never be based on feelings or any other externalities. Let the Holy Spirit, who knows God’s heart concerning you, guide you to the shepherd He has prepared for you.
Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for ensuring that I will be spiritually fed and nurtured properly, when I allow You to plant me in the right church and under the right shepherd.
Victory Verse..To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV)
Today is a gift, don’t let it go to waste.
