Statement of Faith
Grace Reformed Church
Grace Reformed Church stands in the historic Protestant and Reformed tradition. We joyfully confess the gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed in Holy Scripture and summarized in the historic Reformed confessions.
1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and life.
The Scriptures are sufficient for salvation and for the ordering of the church.
2. The Triune God
We believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, co-eternal, and of one divine essence.
God is sovereign over all creation and works all things according to the counsel of His will.
3. Creation and Providence
We believe that God created the world out of nothing by His powerful Word. He upholds and governs all things by His providence for His glory and the good of His people.
4. The Fall and Human Sin
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God but fell into sin through Adam’s disobedience.
As a result, all people are born sinful, spiritually dead, and unable to save themselves. Salvation is entirely by God’s grace.
5. The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitutionary atonement for sinners, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now reigns at the right hand of the Father.
Christ alone is the Mediator between God and man.
6. Salvation by Grace Alone
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
God justifies sinners by imputing the righteousness of Christ to them. This justification is received by faith apart from works.
Those whom God saves are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and progressively sanctified.
7. The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit applies the work of Christ to believers, granting new birth, faith, repentance, and growth in holiness.
The Spirit indwells every believer and empowers them for godly living and service.
8. The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, consisting of all true believers.
The local church is called to:
Preach the Word faithfully
Administer the sacraments rightly
Exercise church discipline biblically
Christ is the head of the church.
9. The Sacraments
We believe that Christ instituted two sacraments:
Baptism
The Lord’s Supper
These are signs and seals of God’s covenant promises and means of grace to believers when received in faith.
10. Christian Living
We believe that those saved by grace are called to live holy lives in gratitude to God.
Good works do not save, but they are the necessary fruit of true faith.
11. The Return of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ will return bodily and visibly to judge the living and the dead.
The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the wicked will face eternal judgment.
12. Confessional Commitment
Grace Reformed Church affirms the historic Reformed confessions as faithful summaries of biblical doctrine and stands within the Reformed tradition in doctrine, worship, and church governance.
