Many believers speak of the name of Jesus as though it were simply another title of God. Yet Scripture teaches that Jesus Christ is the only Savior given to the world, and that all we do in word and deed should be done in His name (Colossians 3:17).
The name of Jesus is not merely to be spoken; it is to shape our entire lives and worship. In our churches, we should sing of Christ, preach Christ, teach Christ, and continually proclaim His redeeming work on the cross. In His name we pray, baptize, and minister, trusting Him to save, heal, deliver, protect, and uplift His people.
The apostles understood this truth. Though they were commanded not to speak in the name of Jesus (Acts 5:40–42), they never ceased preaching Him. Their message remained centered on Christ and His salvation, and God’s power was evident among them.
Jesus prayed that His followers would be kept by the Father’s name (John 17), and we know that “the name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10).
When Christ is truly at the center of our fellowships, we experience His grace, unity, and spiritual strength.
May every church remain firmly rooted in Jesus Christ and His finished work.
