Building strong families is essential for the healthy growth and development of children. A strong family is one that provides direction, love, and a willingness to keep learning in the lifelong work of parenting.
This responsibility is not limited to two-parent families alone. In today’s world, families take many forms. We see increasing cases of marriages not working, widows and widowers raising children alone, early pregnancies among teenagers, and many men and women choosing to have children outside marriage while remaining single.
These realities, among others, have contributed to a generation that is often difficult to understand and nurture. Single parenting, in particular, comes with vast challenges that are frequently overlooked or left unaddressed.
This raises important questions:
1. How can single parents raise their children as effectively as they might have if both parents were present?
2. What impact does growing up in a single-parent or dysfunctional family have on children?
3. Can parents still hope to find love and transition into new relationships smoothly, without causing harm to their children?
4. What do parents need to understand and prepare for in this new chapter of life?
5. What is God’s heart and purpose for families in these circumstances?
These questions are best explored when parents come together in a safe, open environment—sharing their stories, learning from one another, and gaining wisdom from those who have walked the journey and succeeded in raising their children well.
