Our Young People Are Spreading the Gospel—One Deed at a Time! ✨
We recently received a distress call concerning one of our own—Mama Teresia, a long-standing and faithful member of RCC. Mama is an elderly widow who, due to old age, has lost her sight. She has no children or grandchildren and lives completely alone. Sadly, even the little she has is often taken from her by those around her.
When the call came through, our spiritual parents Bishop Hesbone and Mama Violet Odindo responded swiftly by initiating the construction of a new house for Mama. The Mercy Team took up the responsibility of feeding her three meals a day. And yesterday, our young people took the gospel into action by going to ‘muono’ (mud and plaster) Mama’s new house.
What they encountered brought tears to many eyes. Mama’s old living conditions were heartbreaking! 💔 But by God’s grace, our youth were determined to ensure she moved into her new home that very day.
They plastered the entire house, leveled the interior floor, washed all of Mama’s clothes, bathed and clothed her, bought her a brand new bed and clean bedding, ushered her with joy into her new home and covered her in prayer
James 1:27 reminds us that, religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress. And yesterday, our young people lived that scripture. What’s more humbling is that they’ve taken it upon themselves to create a duty roster—to regularly check on Mama, clean for her, and simply be there ☺️
We are deeply moved and incredibly proud. This is what it means to be the Church! ⛪️
To see a generation so willing to sacrifice their time, money, and comfort to care for the vulnerable is a sign that God is truly at work among us 🥹🙌🏽
May we all be stirred to love not just in word, but in deed.
To step in where others step away.
To shine Christ’s light where darkness once prevailed.
To God be all the glory 🙏🏽
