The soul that surrendered to the will of God easily can bear all trouble and disease, because even in illness it prays and looks up to God: "Lord, You see my illness and know how powerless and sinful I am. Help me endure and give me strength to thank You for everything. And the Lord will ease the disease and the soul will feel His help and it will rejoice in it and thank Him. If trouble comes to you, think: "The Lord sees my heart, and if it pleases Him, it will be well for me and others". That's how peace will always reign in your soul. And if someone shouts: "It shouldn't be that way, it's not good that it is this way", he will never have peace in his soul, even if he prayed and fasted a lot. The Lord loves us and therefore we should not fear anything, except sin, because because of it the grace of God is lost. That's when the devil persecutes the soul like the wind chases smoke or a dry leaf.

Every day, we have to prepare ourselves to bear our cross, say Holy Church teachers. “When we go to work, to our obedience, to pray, we will take up our little cross and follow our Bridegroom. Today, we will bear this cross; next time, we will bear another cross”.
St. Paisios of Mount Athos explains,
“The Good God provides each of us with a cross to bear – analogous to the strength of each – not to punish us, but to enable us to climb from that cross to Heaven – because in essence, the cross is a ladder to Heaven.” From Spiritual Councils IV: Family Life

"Modern man comes to the Church not as a patient, but as a customer.

“I like it,” “I don’t like it,” “it was too long,” “he spoke too loudly,” “I didn’t feel anything.”

This is how a person judges the service, as if it were a product. He no longer comes to be healed; he comes to be satisfied.

If the sermon wounds him, he leaves.

If he is told to change, he becomes unsettled.

If he is asked to be patient, he looks for another place.

He has forgotten that the Church is not a theatre, nor a spiritual restaurant. It is a hospital, and you do not go to a hospital to be applauded, but to be cut open, to be cleansed, to be healed.

Whoever enters the Church without humility leaves without healing.

Grace does not work according to a person’s preferences, but according to their wound.

But modern man no longer wants his wound to be touched, because it hurts. He wants comfort without truth, forgiveness without repentance, communion without confession.

And when he does not receive what he wants, he says that “he no longer feels anything.”

It is not the Church that has grown cold — the heart has closed.

The hospital is the same.

The doctor is the same.

The treatment is the same.

But the patient refuses the operation and is surprised that the illness remains.

Fasting is a deep mean of spiritual life in the Orthodox Church. “Not only should we observe moderation with food, but we must also abstain from every other sin so that just as we fast with our stomach, we should fast with our tongue. Likewise, we should fast with our eyes; i.e. not look at agitating things, not allow your eyes freedom to roam, not to look shamelessly and without fear. Similarly, arms and legs should be restrained from doing any evil acts.”
Saint Dorotheus of Gaza

☦️ 🕯️ Sin attracts through sweetness, and then torments through a bitterness that brings corruption. And behold, the light of the mind has darkened within you; the serpents of passions bite you, and the weight of a most profound discontent tortures you. You are like a dry branch, a broken vessel, a bird with its feathers plucked. And even this is not the end. Remember that the end of the dry branch is the flame that burns and does not consume.🕯️ ☦️

Orthodox view of the Mystery of the Baptism is essentially different from protestant one and is based on the Scripture along with the reasonable understanding and practice of the ancient Church. St John Damaskin explains:
“ Through Baptism we receive the full forgiveness of sins, we “put on Christ”, becoming members of His Body, the Church. To remind them of their Baptism, Orthodox Christians usually wear throughout life a small Cross, hung round the neck on a chain during their Baptismal Service.
The remission of sins, therefore, is granted alike to all through baptism: but the grace of the Spirit is proportional to the faith and previous purification. Now, indeed, we receive the first fruits of the Holy Spirit through baptism, and the second birth is for us the beginning and seal and security and illumination s of another life.”
Concerning children, ancient faithful (as there first Christian families became to appear and it had to be decided) came to the conclusion that it is not right to deprive them of it, by many reasons. Just like we don’t deprive our children of proper medical treatment and basic schooling. It is natural for a Christian family to raise their children in the Body of Christ, not out of it. Especially taking into consideration that everyone is born in sin (sinful nature - Rom. 5:12), and as parents we are obliged to take care of our children.

It is good to have spiritual Father. And often people look for him , seek and choose. But it's quite important to remember that we are still responsible for our life ourselves.
“A Spiritual Father, like a signpost, merely indicates the way; but you yourself must follow the path.”
Saint Nikon of Optina

☦️🕯️The testing of the soul with various troubles occurs with the permission of God, so that the souls who truly love the Lord may be revealed to everyone.

It is a distinctive sign to pass through the narrow door of trials and tribulations.

The patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs of all times have, through these, become well-pleasing to God.🕯️☦️

All of mankind, each and every individual is in a fallen and deeply corrupt state. Alone, man is incapable of purifying himself. He is unable to achieve salvation, or to become worthy of the Heavenly Kingdom. The purification is done by Jesus Christ, who came into the world for that very purpose. But only those are purified who believe in Christ and recognize their own corruption or, as we are accustomed to say, their sinfulness.

Nothing should prevent us from being connected to God. It is always our choice. Just like it was with Adam and Eve. No matter how we hide and try to hide our deeds, God is always here. And it is better to pray and be not quick for sin, than the other way round.
“But for one who is praying it should make no difference if he is on the train or in the cave or on the road; it should be the same for him. God has made each one of us into a small temple, and we can always have it with us wherever we go.”
Saint Elder Paisios of Mount Athos

the Sacrament of Holy Confession is essential part of Christian life. It is acknowledgment of our sinfulness, it is repentance, forgiveness, restoring relationship with God, constant examination of our life.
“In this life we sin continually, and at the same time we are so self-loving, that we cannot endure our faults and sins to be reproved, especially before others; but in the future life our transgressions will be reproved before the whole world. Remembering this terrible judgment seat, let us bear reproof here humbly and gently, and let us correct ourselves of all our faults and sins”.
