Title: "Sent to Robbers: A Testimony of God’s Power and Calling"
By Pastor Dismus
Introduction:
There was a time I believed that after accepting Jesus, we would be taken straight to heaven. I was filled with excitement and waited for that moment—but it never came. Days turned into years, and I soon realized salvation is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a great mission.
1. A Village Encounter with Jesus
In our small village, we did not have much information about salvation. But when Jesus found me, I knew my life was changed forever. Though I misunderstood what salvation meant at first, the Lord was patient with me. I began to serve, grow in faith, and walk the long road of discipleship.
2. A Life-Changing Dream
One night, I had a dream. In it, I saw myself preaching the gospel to robbers. I was afraid. I asked God what the dream meant, and He made it clear: He was sending preachers to robbers. I woke up shaken, but as days passed, I assumed it was just an ordinary dream and went on with life, forgetting the vision.
3. A Divine Encounter in the Dark
Years later, on a quiet night around 9 p.m., I was returning from the market. Suddenly, I found myself face-to-face with a man in the forest. He was armed. The darkness surrounded us. He raised his voice, shouting:
"Give me all the money you have or I’ll kill you!"
But at that moment, the Holy Spirit took full control of me—my senses, my speech, my fear. I did not act by my own strength, but by the Spirit of God. I opened my mouth, and these words came out:
"My brother, you can give your life to Jesus."
The robber, confused and afraid, repeated his threat—this time with a tremble in his voice.
Again, I replied, word for word:
"My brother, you can give your life to Jesus."
4. Heaven Breaks In
To my amazement, the armed robber dropped to his knees. Right there, in the middle of the forest, he gave his life to Jesus. I led him in the prayer of repentance. When we finished, he stood up changed. Though he had threatened to kill me, he now reached into his pocket—not to steal, but to give. He offered me money to get home safely.
Glory to God!
5. Conclusion: God's Call Is Not Forgotten
What God showed me in the dream many years before was not forgotten by Him, even though I had forgotten. He had been preparing me for that moment. His Spirit filled me with boldness. And He reminded me that no soul is too lost for salvation—not even a robber in the night.
Romans 1:16 (NIV): “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”
Reflection:
God may give us dreams today that are meant for years to come.
We must be ready in season and out of season.
The Holy Spirit gives boldness where fear would naturally take over.
No place is too dark for the light of Christ to shine.
Robbers, murderers, and outcasts are not beyond redemption—God is sending us to them.
Final Prayer:
"Lord, make me bold. Use me where others fear to go. Fill me with Your Spirit so that in the darkest places, I can shine the light of Christ. Send me, Lord—even to the robbers. In Jesus' name, Amen."
