*WHAT A WAY TO END THE MONTH OF AUGUST!*
What a revelation. What a month. What a journey it has been! And as we bring August to a beautiful close, one thing is certain — *we could not have done it without all of you.*
Today, we gathered once again in the presence of God, and what a glorious way it was to conclude our month under the theme *“Sinners Run to God.”*
The services were beautifully led by our clergy, led by *Revd William Munyui*, together with our Lay Readers led by *Senior Lay Reader Mr. Stephen Kiragu*, and our church elders led by *Mr. Albert Githeri*. Our ushers for the day were the wonderful *Bethsaida Cell Group*, who served with warmth and dedication.
We were also privileged, during the last two services, to have the *semi-annual financial accounts* read and presented by our Church Treasurer, *Mrs. Susan Mugera*. We hope you followed through and gained a clear understanding of the financial journey and stewardship of our church.
And then came the Word!
Our preaching today was brought to us by *Revd Michael Chege* and *Revd Hellen Njuguna* — and oh, what a way to finalize the theme of August!
Revd Hellen Njuguna brought us a powerful and timely message titled:
*“RUN TO GOD AND LIVE.”*
Drawing from *Zephaniah 2:1–3*, we were reminded that running is not simply about movement *it is about direction.*
She gave us the picture of a schoolboy running a relay race, only to suddenly take the opposite direction from the one he was supposed to follow.
And the question came to us:
*Where are you running to?*
Zephaniah's message was urgent: *“Seek the LORD, seek righteousness, seek humility.”*
We were reminded of the danger of spiritual insensitivity — of becoming so accustomed to religion that we lose genuine surrender, so distracted that we stop seeking God, and so comfortable that we fail to recognize how far we have drifted.
But the message did not leave us there.
We were given a call to *SEEK.*
Seek the Lord.
Seek righteousness.
Seek humility.
Seek good and reject evil.
Because, as Amos reminds us, *“Seek the LORD and live.”*
We were challenged to understand that faith must be intentional. Just as a farmer deliberately plants, waters and prunes, our relationship with God must be cultivated deliberately — through prayer, Scripture, obedience, humility and daily choices.
We were also reminded of the sobering warning to the nations in Zephaniah 2. Human strength cannot replace dependence on God. When we ignore His voice, we risk finding ourselves in a place of spiritual emptiness and distance from Him.
And then came a beautiful picture:
*When heavy rains flood the streets, people run to higher ground.*
Why?
Because they know where safety is.
And today, we were reminded that *God is our higher ground.*
When life becomes overwhelming, when sin threatens to drown us, when the storms of life rise, we don't run away from God.
*We run TO Him.*
Because in Christ, there is life.
Jesus says in Matthew 6:33, *“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.”*
He declares in John 10:10 that He came so that we may have life — and have it abundantly.
And in John 14:6, He reminds us:
*“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”*
The illustration of Noah brought the message even closer.
In a spiritually numb generation, Noah heard God's voice. While others ignored the warning, Noah kept building.
Hammer after hammer.
Day after day.
His obedience was intentional.
And when the flood came, the ark became the place of safety.
In Noah's day, *the ark was the place of safety.*
In Zephaniah's day, *seeking the Lord was the shelter.*
And in our day, *Christ is the Ark.*
*Run to Him — and live.*
As we close this month, the challenge is not simply to have heard the Word.
It is to *live intentionally.*
Where are you running?
What are you pursuing?
Are you running toward God, or are the distractions of life slowly taking you in another direction?
Don't wait for the crisis to come.
Don't wait for the storm.
Don't wait until everything falls apart.
*Run to God today.*
Run to Him in repentance.
Run to Him in prayer.
Run to Him in humility.
Run to Him in obedience.
Run to Him when you are broken.
Run to Him when you are strong.
Run to Him when you don't understand.
Because when we run to God, we find mercy.
When we run to Christ, we find righteousness.
And when we surrender to Him, *we find life.*
What a month August has been!
A month of reflection.
A month of repentance.
A month of revelation.
A month of learning to stop running away — and *start running to God.*
To every member, visitor, clergy, lay reader, elder, ministry, cell group, volunteer and friend who journeyed with us throughout August — *thank you.*
This journey would not have been the same without you.
As we close the month, may the Word we have received not remain within the walls of the church.
May it follow us home.
May it shape our choices.
May it transform our hearts.
And may it change the direction in which we are running.
We hope you have been blessed, challenged and transformed throughout the month of August.
*Run to God. Seek Him. Walk humbly with Him. And live.*
August may be ending, but the journey continues.
We cannot wait to welcome you into another beautiful month of fellowship, worship, service and growing together in Christ.
