*THANKSGIVING SERVICE HELD AT MR. BOOKER MBUGUA RESIDENCE ON MADARAKA DAY 2026*
*Have you ever been somewhere and wondered whether heaven had touched the earth?*
Have you ever visited a place so beautiful, so peaceful, and so breathtaking that for a moment you forgot every worry and simply stood in awe of God's creation?
Well, that was the experience of the *ACK St. James Cathedral Kiambu* family as we gathered to celebrate *Madaraka Day 2026* at the picturesque residence of *Mr. Booker Mbugua*.
From the moment our *Provost and Vicar General, the Very Revd Canon Geoffrey Mungai*, released us with a word of prayer, there was a feeling that this would be no ordinary day. Little did we know that we were about to experience a day filled with *worship, fellowship, laughter, nature, sumptuous meals, and unforgettable memories.*
*And What a Journey It Was!*
As we made our way through the beautiful countryside, every turn seemed to unveil another masterpiece crafted by the hand of God. The rolling landscapes, the fresh air, the greenery, and the serenity of the environment left many speechless.
*If there was ever a place that whispered the beauty of Eden, this was it.*
The occasion was graced by our Father in God, *the Bishop Rt. Rev. Canon Charles Muturi*, alongside *the Very Revd Canon Geoffrey Mungai*, *Assistant Provost Rev. Anne Mwaura*, members of the clergy, PCC members led by their Secretary *Mr. James Kangara*, the choir, the technical team, and members of the cathedral family.
Looking around, one could easily mistake the gathering for a royal occasion. The outfits were elegant, the smiles infectious, and the atmosphere simply electric.
*A Welcome Worthy of Royalty*
Upon arrival, we received a welcome worthy of kings and queens.
Our host, *Mr. Booker Mbugua*, welcomed us with warmth, grace, and generosity. Breakfast was served in abundance, setting the tone for what would become a day overflowing with blessings.
But before the feasting came the worship.
*A Moment at the Lord's Table*
Gathering together amidst such beauty, we celebrated the *Holy Communion Service* led by *Bishop Charles Muturi*.
In a powerful and thought-provoking sermon, the Bishop took us on a spiritual journey through the *death of Christ, His resurrection, His ascension, Pentecost, and the significance of Trinity Sunday.*
He reminded us of the profound mystery of our faith:
*One God, revealed in three Persons — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.*
The Bishop challenged us to seek God wholeheartedly, assuring us that *those who wait upon the Lord shall never wait in vain.*
He further cautioned against the culture of *instant gratification*, urging believers to embrace *patience, diligence, discipline, and faithfulness* in pursuing God's promises.
*It was a sermon that nourished the soul.*
*Then Came the Moment Many Had Been Secretly Waiting For...*
*LUNCH!*
And brethren, words may fail to fully describe what awaited us.
The tables were overflowing with delicious food. Every plate was a testimony of excellence. Every bite was a reminder of God's goodness.
The meals were not only plentiful but also incredibly scrumptious, prepared and served with remarkable care and love.
*Laughter filled the air. Conversations flowed freely. Friendships were strengthened. Memories were created.*
If fellowship had a taste, *this was it.*
*A Beautiful Gesture of Appreciation*
As if the day could not get any better, the *Very Revd Canon Geoffrey Mungai*, together with the PCC leadership and clergy, took time to express heartfelt gratitude to our gracious host.
In a touching gesture of appreciation, they presented *Mr. Booker Mbugua* with a strong and healthy goat to add to his flock — a symbol of the cathedral family's love and gratitude.
*The smiles on faces said it all.*
*The Grand Finale*
*TREE PLANTING*
Surrounded by nature's beauty, we planted trees that will stand as living reminders of this special day for generations to come.
It was more than an environmental activity.
*It was a declaration.*
A declaration that we are committed to preserving God's creation and leaving behind a legacy worth celebrating.
*A Day to Remember*
As the sun slowly began to set and the day drew to a close, one thing became abundantly clear:
*Madaraka Day 2026 was not merely celebrated.*
*It was experienced.*
*It was cherished.*
*It was unforgettable.*
Our hearts are full of gratitude to God for granting us such a beautiful day of worship, fellowship, reflection, laughter, and community.
To *Mr. Booker Mbugua* and his family, thank you for opening your home, your hearts, and your hands to us. Your hospitality was exceptional, your generosity overwhelming, and your kindness deeply appreciated.
Indeed, when God's people gather in unity, beautiful things happen.
And as we look back on this remarkable day, we can only echo the words of the Psalmist:
*"The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy."*
*To God alone be all the glory.*
