TOPIC: FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness is Forgetting Wrong (Colossians 2:13):

We are forgiven by God, and all evidence of our sins is wiped away. The devil often tries to remind us of our past sins, especially those committed before salvation, but these were forgotten at the cross.

Matthew 18:21-22

Jesus teaches that forgiveness should be limitless—seventy times seven.

Matthew 18:34-35

If we refuse to forgive others, we place them in a "prison" in our hearts, holding them captive in unforgiveness. Unforgiveness leads to pain, and we end up hurting ourselves.

What is Unforgiveness?

Unforgiveness is like putting someone in jail, making them a prisoner of your heart. When we accuse people and hold onto grudges, we are the ones who suffer the most.

Hebrews 12:15

Holding onto unforgiveness leads to bitterness, which defiles our spirit. Whoever hides or justifies sin will not prosper.

Bitterness and Unforgiveness

Sometimes, our pain is not about what was done to us but about the "bitter root" that has grown in our hearts. If you don’t deal with sin, it turns into anger, and if anger is not addressed, it becomes bitterness.

Medical Insights

According to some medical studies, 70% of diseases could be a result of unresolved emotional issues, such as unforgiveness.

How to Forgive

Matthew 18:15 – Jesus teaches that when someone sins against you, approach them directly to resolve the issue. Do not allow anger to fester and turn into bitterness.

Example from Genesis 45

Joseph is a powerful example of forgiveness. He forgave his brothers, even after all they had done to him, showing how forgiveness brings restoration and healing.

In that pain, there is a gain.
In that shame, there is fame.

*Topic: Dealing with the Spirit of Backsliding*

*What is Backsliding?*

Backsliding is the act of turning away from the path of righteousness and losing the passion and commitment one initially had toward God. It represents a spiritual decline and the lowering of one’s standards before God. Backsliding happens when a person begins to prioritize worldly matters over their relationship with God. When you truly love something, you will always find time for it. Backsliding causes a person to become more attracted to the things of this world, neglecting their walk with the Lord.

*The Consistency of Backsliding*

*1. It Causes Backwardness*

Backsliding takes you back from your progress with God. Instead of moving forward, you are trapped in a cycle of decline.

Jeremiah 7:24 - "But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward."

Jeremiah 30:15 - "Why do you cry out over your wound? Your pain has no cure. Because of your great guilt and many sins, I have done these things to you."

*2. It Brings War*

Backsliding brings internal and external conflicts. It opens doors to spiritual warfare.

*3. It Brings Bitter Experiences*

Just as the Israelites often suffered greatly before turning back to God, backsliding leads to harsh and painful consequences. A life away from God is filled with bitterness and sorrow.

*4. It Brings Rebukes*

God corrects those He loves, and backsliding brings about divine rebuke as a wake-up call to return to Him.

*5. It Brings Faithlessness*

The further one drifts from God, the more they lose their faith and trust in Him. Backsliding causes a person to become doubtful and faithless.

Jeremiah 3:22 - "Return, faithless people; I will cure you of backsliding. 'Yes, we will come to you, for you are the Lord our God.'"

*6. Backsliding Brings War*

Turning away from God leads to confusion, conflict, and division. When Israel strayed from God, war often followed.

Judges 5:8 - "When they chose new gods, war came to the city gates, and not a shield or spear was seen among forty thousand in Israel."

*7. It Causes Stagnation*

Backsliding leads to spiritual stagnation. There is no growth, no development, and no progress in your walk with God.

*8. It Brings Weakness*

Spiritual strength is lost when a person backslides. You lose the power and authority that comes with a strong relationship with God.

*Conclusion:*

Backsliding is dangerous, leading to backwardness, war, bitterness, rebuke, and a loss of faith and strength. But the grace of God is always available to those who turn back to Him. As He calls out in Jeremiah 3:22, "Return, faithless people; I will cure you of backsliding." Stay rooted in Christ, keep your passion for God alive, and guard your relationship with Him diligently.

Topic: Why Do We Need the Fire of the Altar?

Text: Exodus 3:1

1. Power Attracts

When we engage with the fire of the altar, we invite divine power into our lives. This power is magnetic; it draws others and opens doors.

In Acts 2, we see a profound difference between preaching with the fire of the Holy Spirit and without it. When the Spirit ignites our words, they resonate deeply and transform lives. Without that fire, our message lacks the anointing that truly captivates hearts.

2. You Must Be Purified

Being close to the fire of God brings purification. The heat of His presence reveals our sin and shortcomings.

You cannot maintain holiness through your own strength. Just as gold is refined by fire, our faith is tested and purified through trials. Consider Elijah’s confrontation on Mount Carmel, where God answered by fire. The sacrifices were consumed, showing that when we surrender to God, He purifies and empowers us for His purpose.

3. Through Fire, You Receive Revelation

Meeting God in a personal encounter ignites revelation.

1 Samuel 3 illustrates this; Samuel heard God’s voice in the quietness of the night, revealing His plans. Many of us miss divine instructions because we lack this personal revelation. When we encounter God, our perspective shifts, and we see what He desires us to do.

4. We Receive Instructions from God

God provides clear directions when we are attuned to His voice.

In Genesis, Isaac faced a famine and was tempted to leave. Instead, God instructed him to stay and plant in the land, promising a great harvest despite the drought. This highlights how essential it is to listen for divine instructions in our lives. Our service to God should be rooted in His guidance.

5. You Gain Authority Over Your Enemies

The fire of the altar equips us with authority.

In Exodus 3:10, God commissions Moses to confront Pharaoh, demonstrating the authority that comes from divine appointment. Similarly, Luke 12:49 speaks of Jesus bringing fire to the earth—a fire that empowers His followers to confront spiritual battles.

When we are ignited by God’s fire, we possess authority over adversaries, just as the disciples felt their hearts burning within them when Jesus explained the Scriptures (Luke 24:32).

Conclusion

The fire of the altar is essential for empowerment, purification, revelation, guidance, and authority. It transforms us into vessels capable of carrying out God's mission in a world that desperately needs His light. Let us draw near to the altar, allowing the fire of the Holy Spirit to ignite our lives for His glory.
