π LET IT GO! - By Pastor Rosemary Gakere, GCC Kahawa West
Key Texts: Philippians 3:13, Genesis 21:6-14, Genesis 17:25
There are many burdens in our lives that we carry. You cannot win the prize if you are running with burdens.
Whatever you cannot control, let it go.
Genesis 21:6-14
The promise of God cannot take root where the promise of man has occupied.
Genesis 17:25
Abraham was 99 years old when he went through circumcision, and Ishmael was 13 years old. When Isaac was being weaned (Genesis 21:8-14), Ishmael had turned 14. This timeline shows that Abraham and Sarah held onto their own constructed plan, a "fake promise," instead of waiting for God's "true promise" for a span of 14 years.
They had to release their own plan and embrace God's genuine promise of Isaac. They had to make this choice despite the distress and pain it caused.
In life, we often cling to things we cherish, including what we've grown attached to over many years. Yet, we must release these attachments to make room for God's true promise. Some of the things we must let go of might come at a high cost; the process could be heart-wrenching, leaving us feeling empty or off balance. Nevertheless, if we desire God's authentic promise to take root, we have no alternative but to let go of the "fake promises" we've held onto.
Do you currently possess something, perhaps a relationship or another possession, that doesn't align with God's promise? It's essential to release it and allow God to fill the void created, giving Him space in your life. This way, His promise can come to life. For His promise to unfold, you need to create space, letting go of what's been holding you back.
God's genuine blessings are at your doorstep, but you might find yourself sitting comfortably with a false promise, hesitant to let go. Are you struggling and uncertain about what to do with this false promise now that God's true promise has emerged or is on the horizon?
Isaiah 43:19
Imagine holding onto promises that aren't real. They're like the leaves on a tree that only last for a certain time. Just as trees let go of leaves, even in the dry times, you should also let go of things that aren't permanent.
Don't be scared to let go. When you do, God will provide new good things, just like a tree growing new leaves.
Don't think only about your limits. What you'll gain is much better than what you're giving up. Even if it's tough to let go and it makes you sad or frustrated, God's promises will take care of everything.
The happiness and fulfillment that come from God's plan are way better than sticking to fake promises. It's like how troubles we face now are small compared to the amazing things that will last forever (2 Corinthians 4:17).
We have to let some things go to make us lighter to pursue our dreams and embrace the promises of God.
A ship does not sink because it goes through the water; it sinks because of the water that gets into it. You may have walked through the fake promise for some time; however, it is clinging onto it and embracing it that will make you sink.
Let go and embrace the true promise of God before it is too late, before the waters of the fake promise get into you and cause you to sink.
Don't settle for what's easy; welcome God's promise even if it means taking the difficult path.
