The Africa Region is delighted to welcome Rev. Dr. Christian Tiews and Rev. Jerry Lawson from LCMS Eurasia to our field office in Nairobi.

The two educators from Luther Academy in Riga, Latvia, are in Kenya as the Africa Region hosts the intensive course week for online students in the Luther Academy program from the Eurasia and Africa regions.

Please join us in praying for God's blessings on the educators and students as they learn, grow, and fellowship together in the days ahead.

This week, the LCMS Africa field hosted a mission education team from Concordia University Nebraska (CUNE) in Shinyanga, Tanzania.

Working alongside LCMS missionaries, leaders, and pastors from the ELCT Southeast of Lake Victoria Diocese (SELVD), the team experienced firsthand the life and work of mission ministry in the region. They learned about the diverse ministries of the SELVD and joined in serving communities through visits and outreach.

Their time included visiting the SELVD cathedral, several schools, the Makala training center, and the Mwadui children’s home, as well as taking part in door-to-door evangelism.

It was a meaningful week of learning, fellowship, and building relationships as Christ’s love was shared in word and action.

Last week, we had the joy of welcoming bishops from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) to our field office in Nairobi, Kenya! Rev. Shauen Trump shared insights into the mission work happening across Africa, followed by a meaningful moment as each bishop received books on theology, church history, pastoral care, and more.

We wrapped up the visit over tea and conversations - it was truly a blessing to host and connect with our brothers in Christ!

This week, the Africa Region had the joy of co-hosting the Lutheran Mission in Africa – Synod of a Thousand Hills (LMA-STH) FORO (Partners Consultation) at the LMA-STH head office in Rwamagana, Rwanda.

It has been a meaningful time of discovery and encouragement as partners gathered to pray together, visit LMA-STH congregations, and witness firsthand the incredible work God is doing through the church. Along the way, there have been rich moments of sharing, learning, and discovering new ways to walk this journey together.

We are deeply grateful for this strong partnership in the Gospel - standing side by side as we continue to support the proclamation of the gospel in this place.

The Africa region welcomes Rev. Michael & Shanna Hageman, along with Kaelin Peralta, to Kenya! We thank the Lord for their safe arrival.

Rev. Michael and Shanna will soon be serving in Shinyanga, Tanzania - equipping others as a theological educator and teaching English as a Second Language. Kaelin will be serving in Kenya as the Africa region’s communications specialist.

They have already begun their field orientation this week. Please keep them in your prayers as they settle in, adjust to a new culture, and step into the work God has called them to.

This week, the Africa Region had the joy of hosting the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eritrea (ELCE) FORO (Partners Consultation) at our Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya.

It was a meaningful time of worship, connection, and shared learning, as partners came together to learn more about the work the Church is doing and explore new ways to journey forward together.

We are grateful for this partnership in the Gospel – walking side by side in faith as we continue to build and strengthen Christ’s Church.

The LCMS Africa Region recently came together for a refreshing and meaningful Regional Retreat. Led by Rev. Luke Timm and guided spiritually by Rev. Dr. Mark Rabe, participants journeyed through the book of Revelation - growing in faith and understanding together.

It was a time of rest, reconnection, and renewal. The families shared the Gospel, strengthened bonds, and enjoyed precious moments of fellowship.

Grateful for the time spent together and the encouragement found in community.
