Don Bosco Tech Africa is a network of 113 TVET centers spread over 34 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa reaching over 40,000 young people annually. We aim to empower our TVET centers so that they can deliver demand driven and
quality training to the marginalised young people who frequent our training centers.

Today, Don Bosco Tech Africa, together with Don Bosco Tech Kenya Karen Campus, had the privilege of hosting a delegation from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) for a benchmarking and consultative engagement visit.

The delegation visited the institution to gain insights into key areas of TVET centre establishment and management, including institutional governance, infrastructure planning, equipment acquisition and maintenance, quality assurance systems, ICT integration, digital learning, industry partnerships, financial sustainability, and student support systems.

The visit reflected the growing recognition of the Don Bosco TVET model as a benchmark for quality, excellence, and skills development in Kenya and beyond. The delegation expressed admiration for the high standards, professionalism, and holistic approach that continue to define Don Bosco institutions.

We are honoured to contribute to national conversations on strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and proud to see our institutions serving as a point of reference for public and private sector stakeholders committed to empowering youth through skills.

πŸ“š Advancing quality and excellence in TVET across Africa and Madagascar.

Days 8 and 9 of the Don Bosco TVET Systematization Workshop focused on Quality Management Systems (QMS), equipping participants with knowledge and practical skills to strengthen quality processes within their institutions.

βœ… The sessions introduced participants to the principles of quality management, ISO 9000 QMS standards, and the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. Participants also explored QMS documentation processes and concepts of internal quality audits to support continuous improvement and institutional effectiveness.

🀝 Through group discussions, participants reviewed the status of Quality Management Systems within their provinces and developed implementation plans aimed at enhancing quality assurance and service delivery across the Don Bosco TVET network.

Day 3 of the Don Bosco TVET Systematization Workshop focused on Foundations in Data, Information, and Knowledge Management. Participants explored the importance of accurate and reliable data in strengthening TVET systems and improving decision-making within the network.
🀝 Through practical scenarios and group discussions, participants reflected on what data is needed, how it should be collected, key stakeholders involved, and the impact of missing or inaccurate data. The sessions also covered knowledge management, data sources and types, data safety and protection, and the current status of data systems within the Don Bosco network.
πŸ’» Participants were introduced to the Don Bosco TVET Management Information System (DB TVET-MIS), a tool designed to enhance data collection, management, reporting, and accountability across TVET centres.

Day 2 of the Don Bosco Systematization Workshop focused on the evolution of learning, from traditional teaching methods to modern digital learning approaches shaping the 21st century. Participants explored the Don Bosco Virtual Training Institute (DBVTI), a key digital learning initiative by Don Bosco Tech Africa with a robust Learning Management System designed to expand access to quality skills training.
🌍 The DBVTI Hybrid Learning Model integrates Online Learning, On-Site Training, Bootcamps, Internships, Assessment & Certification, and Job Placement, creating a comprehensive pathway for youth development and employability.
πŸ–₯️ Participants were introduced to the DBVTI Learning Management System through practical sessions and later worked in groups to develop action plans within their respective provinces to enhance the implementation of the DBVTI.
