OIL OF THE CATECHUMENS - When the Oil of the Catechumens is used in the Church

The Oil of the Catechumens (also called the Oil of Exorcism or Oleum Catechumenorum) is the third of the Holy Oils blessed by the bishop during the Chrism Mass.

It is pure olive oil, blessed specifically for those preparing for Baptism. It symbolizes cleansing, protection from evil, and strength for the spiritual battle of faith.

It is primarily used during the Sacrament of Baptism (especially in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and sometimes for infants):
Before the water baptism, the catechumen (person preparing for Baptism) is anointed on the chest (and sometimes shoulders or other parts) with the Oil of the Catechumens.

This anointing prepares the person by driving out evil influences, strengthening them against temptation, and marking them as belonging to Christ.

In some rites, it is also used during the period of preparation (catechumenate) in exorcism prayers and blessings.

It is not used for Confirmation, Holy Orders, Anointing of the Sick, or the dedication of churches.

Together with the Oil of Chrism and the Oil of the Sick, these three Holy Oils are stored in a special container called a chrismatory and treated with great reverence in the Church.

When John, the Apostle of Jesus, wrote the Book of Revelation, he wasn’t sitting peacefully. He was a prisoner. He was sent away to a lonely island called Patmos. Why? Because he kept preaching Jesus, even when it was dangerous.

At that time, Christians were suffering terribly. The Roman government was killing them, burning them, feeding them to wild animals. It was a time of fear and death. One of the worst emperors, Nero Caesar, was ruling. He was cruel. He hated Christians. He even burned them alive as lamps for his garden.

So when John wanted to write to other Christians to give them hope and encouragement, he had to be very smart. Roman soldiers could read letters, and if they saw anything against the emperor, they would destroy it, and kill the sender.😲

So John used symbols and secret codes, something early Christians understood. It was a smart way to hide the truth in plain sight.

✝️One of the most powerful codes he used was the number 666.

Now, in those days, numbers had special meanings. People didn’t just use them for counting. They used them to express ideas. It’s called gematria a system where letters also have number values.

For example:

The number 7 was seen as the number of God. It meant perfection, completeness, and holiness. It was used for God alone.
The number 6 stood for man, because man was made on the 6th day. It also meant imperfection, weakness, and falling short of God’s glory.

Now, 3 was the number of fullness or completeness. That’s why we say Holy, Holy, Holy to describe God, because He is completely holy.

So when you say 666, it means man (6) repeated three times.

"HABEMUS NOVOS SANCTOS"

"We have New Saints" translates to the Latin "Habemus novos sanctos". This is used in Pope Leo XIV's Solemn Proclamation of Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis as the NEW SAINTS.

From today Saints Frassati and Acutis are officially inscribed in the canon of saints. They are held up as worthy of public veneration and emulation by the Universal Church. Every Christian is now invited to seek their intercession in prayers. Churches, Chapels, Altars and Organisations may also be dedicated under their name.

KNOW YOUR FAITH AS A CHRISTIAN: What really Happened to Christ after His Death 🤔

1. The Catholic Creed has TWELVE Articles
2. Article 4 says: Jesus Christ Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was Crucified, Died and was Buried
3. Jesus Died on the Cross [CCC 571- 623]. He tasted death (his body was separated from his soul) CCC 624. This is naturally necessary in death (CCC 625). The state of the dead Christ is the mystery of Holy Saturday, the great Sabbath rest (Heb 4:7-9). In Resurrection his two natures are re-united.

4. One Person not two persons: As mentioned above, at death his soul was separated from his body yet He remained One Person and not two persons (CCC 626). Both his body and soul remained with the Divine Person of the Word.

5. Christ death was a real death in that it put an end to his earthly human existence. But because of the UNION which his Divine Person of the Son retained with his body, his was not a Mortal Co**se like others, for it was not possible for death to hold him and thus Divine power preserved Christ's body from corruption (Acts 2:26-27, Ps 16:9-10). Bodily was held to begin on the 4th day.

6. Jesus was Buried. Jesus' stay in the Tomb constitutes the real link between his Passible state (capable of feeling, suffering, susceptible to sensation/emotion, in a nutshell his humanity) before Easter and in his glorious and risen state (Rev 1:18).

7. Article 5 says: He Descended to the Dead and the third day He rose again (Eph 4:9-10)

8. Jesus Descended to the realm of the Dead as a Savior, Proclaiming the Good News to the spirits imprisoned there (CCC 632, 1 Pt 3: 18-19)

9. Jesus Descended to Hell. Hell is Sheol in Hebrew, Hell is Hades in Greek. It's called hell because those who are there are deprived of the vision of God (CCC 633). Both the dead righteous and evil are in there but their FATE is NOT IDENTICAL (Ps 89:49, 1 Sam 28:19, Lk 16:22-26).

⚜ TO AVOID PURGATORY, DO AS FOLLOWS.

1. In every prayer you say, every Latin Mass you hear, every Holy Communion you receive (from a validly ordained priest) every good work you perform, have the express intention of imploring God to grant you a "holy and happy death and no Purgatory". Surely God will hear a prayer said with such confidence and perseverance.

2. Always aspire to do God’s will. It is in every sense the best for you. When you do or seek anything that is not God’s will you are sure to suffer. Say fervently, therefore, each time you recite the Our Father: “Thy will be done.”

3. Accept all the sufferings, sorrows, pains, and disappointments of life, be they great or small: ill health, loss of goods, the death of your dear ones, heat or cold, rain or sunshine, as coming from God.
Bear them calmly and patiently for the love of Him and in penance for your sins. Of course one may use all his efforts to ward off trouble and pain, but when one cannot avoid them let him bear them manfully. Impatience and revolt make sufferings vastly greater and more difficult to bear.

4. Christ’s life and actions are so many lessons for us to imitate. The greatest act in His life was His Passion. As He had a Passion, so each one of us has a passion. Our passion consists of the sufferings and labors of every day.
The penance God imposed on man for sin was to gain his bread in the sweat of his brow. Therefore, let us do our work, accept its disappointments and hardships, and bear our pains in union with the Passion of Christ. We gain more merit by a little pain than by years of pleasure.

5. Forgive all injuries and offenses, for, in proportion as we forgive others, God forgives us.

6. Avoid mortal sins and deliberate venial sins and break off all bad habits. Then it will be relatively easy to satisfy God’s justice for sins of frailty. Above all, avoid sins against charity and chastity, whether in thoughts, word, or deed, for these sins|and the expiation for them| is the

MARCH 20, 2025. --- HOLY GOSPEL

Jesus said to the Pharisees:
"There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day.
And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man's table.
Dogs even used to come and lick his sores.
When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham.
The rich man also died and was buried, and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.
And he cried out, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me.
Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.'
Abraham replied, 'My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented.
Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from our side to yours or from your side to ours.'
He said, 'Then I beg you, father, send him
to my father's house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.'

“In the year 1986 ,
The American Medical Association published an article titled "The Physical Death of Jesus Christ" .

It details the entire process of Jesus' trial to His death on the cross. In Luke 22, before Jesus is arrested, it is written that He was in great distress & sweating blood.

Although rare, it is recognized as Hematidrosis, caused by high amounts of stress.

At the time, the crucifixion was considered the worst death for the worst of criminals.

But this is not all Jesus faced. He endured whipping so severe that it tore the flesh from His body.

He was beaten so horrific that His face was torn & His beard ripped.

A crown of thorns, 2-3 inches long cut deeply into His scalp.

The leather whip used to flog Him had tiny iron balls & sharp bones.

The balls caused internal injuries while the sharp bones ripped open His flesh.

His skeletal muscles, veins, & bowels we're exposed, causing major blood loss.

Most men do not survive this kind of torture.

After Jesus was severely flogged, He was forced to carry His own cross while people mocked & spat on Him.

Crucifixion was a process meant to instill excruciating pain, creating a slow & agonizing death.

Nails as long as 8 inches were driven into Jesus' wrists & feet. The Roman soldiers knew the tendon in the wrists would tear & break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support Himself to breathe.

Imagine the struggle, the pain, the courage..Jesus endured this reality for 3 hours!

The Gospel of John writes that after Jesus' death, a Roman soldier pierced His side with a spear & blood & water came out.

Scientists explain that from hypovolemic shock, the rapid heartrate causes fluid to gather in the sack around the lungs & heart.

The gathering of fluid in the membrane around the heart is called Pericardial effusion & the lungs, Pleural effusion.

To the world, Christianity is as foolish as it can get. They believe it's for the weak. But when you are confronted by the reality of the
