Prayer Refresher by Pastor Victor Mwema

Let's fight for our prayer lives. If you're not praying it's because the devil has assigned unto you forces to hinder you. Force yourself and you'll see the turnaround.

Benefits of Prayer

1. Prayer releases anxiety...Phil 4:6
- Rule the issues on your knees
2. Prayer solves problems... James 1:5
- Don't be quick to talk to people.. address them on your knees
3. Prayer builds confidence ...Phil 4:13
- Where there's confidence there's no chance of fear.
- Boldness causes you to act on the word and do wonders
- God can heal, raise the dead, bless..but I need the confidence to believe and act
4. Prayer helps me understand the will of God ROM 8:26
- The sweetest thing in life is to know God's heart, thought, intentions and will- Heb 1:2
- Struggles, fightings, conflicts, are as a result of not knowing the will of God

Title: Becoming a STRONG CHRISTIAN

- This is a special call from the Lord's Spirit unto maturity.
- Galatians 4:1-2/ Psalms 84:7
- There are two very distinct types of christians: Strong Christians and Weak Christians.

- Signs of a weak christian:
* Ruled by their senses and emotions like Esau who sold his birthright for 1 meal!
* Hear the word of God without a commitment to act on it
* They make decisions based on the temporal and not the permanent realities of the kingdom- 2Cor 4:16- 18
* They seek " things"and not the kingdom as per Matt 6:33

- Synonyms of a strong christian:
a) Spiritually minded
b) Mature/ Growing christian
c) Warriors
d) United church

- WHY is the Lord calling for strong Christians?
1. Many are being defeated by worldliness hence becoming lukewarm ( no longer fit for kingdom expansion)
2. The days ahead are for warriors. We can't fight the good fight when weak spiritually. We're to reclaim territories.
3. There's so much inheritance purposed for the end time ( MATURE) church
4. By being spiritually minded, we can work together without getting distracted by sideshows.

PRAYER
1. Thank God for calling us into these blessings of maturity
2. Dedicate yourself to the Lord declaring He's our helper in our growth
3. Heed the corrections the Lord is putting in our hearts that have kept us from entering new levels of growth and strength
4. Receive grace for that desired level of intimacy with the Holy Spirit.

Fire Thieves

We were told that the enemy's agenda is to steal, kill and destroy.( John 10:10) From my walk with the Lord I've discovered that the devil doesn't want fiery Christians. He wants us lukewarm and mundane to the point we can't cast out devils, we can't preach to anyone, we can't maintain a prayer discipline and therefore we can't affect other people. Here are some fire thieves to pray about and avoid

1. Gossip- talking about someone's private life without the intention to help them. Let's learn to pray for and counsel those who seem weak in faith

2. Materialism- putting undue attention on things from God to prove status. Material things are an illusion. The more you get the more you want to get more. Let's learn contentment. Let's learn to be thankful of where we are in each season. The Bible says Joseph was a prosperous man (while in Prison) This means that Prosperity is about the presence of God in your life not necessarily things.

3. Competition & comparison- wanting to see same level of fruits in others manifest in your life without respecting process. Let's learn that different people have different processes. Let's appreciate our process

4. Greed - wanting something so bad that you're unhappy without it or that you're willing to sacrifice your Christian principles to get it. Let's learn to trust that after we pray for something, God will cause it or something better to come at the right time.

5. Idolatry- we talk of India where they've millions of god forgetting that the moment something or someone becomes your number 1 goal they've become a god ( eg pleasing people rather than God, excessive attachment to a current or future status, properties etc.. )

That's why in my opinion we need to restore ourselves to true worship which will give room for the fire of God to help us fully and others.

Proverbs 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Friends, the good news is that God is good and He delights in us. His eyes are upon us and His ears are always open to hear from us ( 1Pet 3:12). He's the source of all good news. May He refresh your spirit, strengthen your zeal for His kingdom and fill your mouth with laughter in Jesus name.
