BASICS OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH-Repentance from Dead Works (Preaching Salvation by works)
Part 3
Let's Teach them right:
Servant of God, please note that if we must teach the children of God that they MUST do certain things for them to gain approval from God, we lead them astray, and deter them from understanding the real essence of the coming of the Christ. This is the reason why after some generations have passed church buildings will be turned into mosques and shopping malls or social centers. If we do not handover the right foundations to those coming into the faith, we will delay the return of Christ our Lord.
Brethren, in teaching God's people to old fast to the dead works, we are directly saying that the coming of Christ was in vain.
Let's read Hebrew 9:1-14.
I will pick it up from vs 8, The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the only way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and canal ordinances imposed on them until the time of reformation.
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made by human hands, that is to say, not of this building:
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once to the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctified to the purifying of the flesh
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered without spot to God.
purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Child of God, no one that practiced the law that called for one to do works for approval before God ever met the standards of approaching the presence of God. See, God is righteous, and whoever comes to him must be righteous too. But man, is not righteous, our works cannot purchase righteousness for us either. You and I. if we were not a High priest, were not allowed to the holiest of holies, where God's presence was. We would stay in the outer courts and send a high priest to present our petitions to God. But here is the problem, even the high priest was not perfect, they risked dropping dead in the presence of God if they were found unworthy. With this, hope was definitely thwarted. But when Jesus, He comes as the High Priest that is, himself, the perfect sacrifice also, that was offered once and for all. He does not cover our sins like the blood of the lambs did. He washes us clean, purges out our sins, never to be remembered again. Isaiah fore saw this and wrote it in
Chapter 43:25 KJV-I, even I am he who blazeth out thy transgressions for my own sake, and that thy
sins I will not remember
See the above? God did not want to take away our sins because of any works, but for his own sake. He chose to make us be in the right standing. Let us repent from dead works, because they will not suffice
Read Hebrews 10:10-14 KJV By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of the God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he has perfected for ever them that are sanctified
Do you think you are sanctified. Do you believe that the work of the cross was enough to get you accepted to God? You can now come to the presence of God, dwell there because he has imputed his righteousness into you, and as such, you are his righteousness (2 Cor 5:21)
If this does not suffice you to believe, please read
Ephesians 2:10 KJV-For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath beforehand ordained that we should walk in them.
Did that verse you nudge your understanding to another level? You have been created in Christ. That means that when you keep in the presence, God sees Christ. You are covered in Christ. If you still think that you are unworthy because you have not done something, your cover has done it all. Christ fulfilled all righteousness, did everything that there was to please God. You stand as the finished work of Christ, which is why We have Read in Hebrews 10:13 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of the God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool
It was done and dusted. If there is anything you have to do, is to walk in the good works that God ordained beforehand please see again Eph 2:10 part b: which God hath beforehand ordained that we should walk in them.
Do you now see how it is going to be easy to do everything we do without straining, and grumbling and wanting to give up? It is because Christ already did it. You walk in it. It will come effortlessly. The work will be done, and it will impact lives because they carry a revelation and the life of God.
It was, initially dead works, because we did them to attain salvation and approval before God, which was not possible.
Now that we are in Christ, the works follow us because we have been approved, and are saved already. Apostle Paul Says that we should repent from these works. Repentance is not saying "Lord forgive me." It is rather stopping and changing the direction toward the right destiny. He says that this is a foundational teaching that we all must know as we come to Christ, as we receive Salvation.
