Amazing Love Fellowship Int'l To liberate the world from all oppression of the devil through the preaching of the word of faith. (Co I 4:2, Josh 1:8, 11 Tim 2:15)

THE WORD

The Bible is given by the inspiration of God and is the only sufficient, certain, and authoritative rule of all-saving knowledge, faith, and obedience. (II Tim 3:16, Ps 119:9-11)

GOD

There is one God revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each with distinct attributes. To God alone do all creatures owe the highest reverence, love, and obedience. (Ex 20: 1-6, Matt 28: 19, II Co

rinthians 13:14)

JESUS

Jesus Christ is the Son and is divinely appointed as mediator between God and man. He died, was buried, arose on the third day, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God interceding for us. (I Tim 2:5-, Rom 8:34)

HOLY SPIRIT

The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is vital for understanding the Word, for power to witness, and for spiritual fruit in the life of the believer. (Gal 5:22, Acts 4:31, John 16: 13-14)

SALVATION

Regeneration is a change of heart by the Holy Spirit to a life of holiness, freely given by repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. BAPTISM

Water baptism by immersion is an ordinance of the church, obligatory upon every believer. (I Peter 3:20b22, Mark 16: 16) Infants and children may be dedicated to the Lord, but they will not be baptized in water. FRUITFULNESS

The continual practice of the spiritual disciplines (prayer, fasting, Bible Study, and worship) is necessary for Christian growth and fruitfulness.

Have you ever considered the importance, in warfare, of having a good spy network, intelligence, CIA? With a better spy network there might never have been a Pearl Harbor or Vietnam. All truth is parallel. If we want victory to avoid spiritual Pearl Harbors, we must learn to receive information from God's master spy network, the Holy Spirit.

"...whatsoever he (the Holy Spirit of God) shall hear; that shall he speak; and he will shew you things to come" (John 16:13).

God wants us forewarned of the enemy's plots, so we can delight in His loving, watchful care. "Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird." (Proverbs 1:17), when God tips you off as to what your enemies are planning. He did it for David as he prayed (I Samuel 23:12). He did it for King Jehoram through the prophet. He did it for Paul through his nephew (Acts 23:16). He did it for Morris in Madras, India, through a strong witness in his spirit. God revealed to him the strategy the Hindu priests planned to use to destroy the crusade.

But the Word tells us God's spy network can also function "In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men...Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction" (Job 33:15, 16). Jesus never met Satan by chance and never met him unprepared. The sweetest dreams we can have are those in which God unveils to us the truth we need to defeat our spiritual enemies.

The Bible tethers us to reality. We are not free to think and speak whatever might enter our minds or what might be pleasing to any given audience—except God.

By personal calling and Scripture, I am bound to the word of God and to the preaching of what the Bible says. There are few things that burden me more or refresh me more than saying what I see in the Bible. I love to see what God says in the Bible. I love to savor it. And I love to say it.

I believe with all my heart that this is the way God has appointed for me not to waste my life. His word is true. The Bible is the only completely true book in the world. It is inspired by God. Rightly understood and followed, it will lead us to everlasting joy with him. There is no greater book or greater truth.

Focus Verse of the Week

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)

Classic Commentary

The first chapter asserts what He was before all things, and the different characters in which He is a blessing to man, being made flesh. He is, and He is the expression of, the whole mind that subsists in God, the Logos. In the beginning He was. If we go back as far as is possible to the mind of men, and even farther beyond all that has had a beginning, He is. This is the most perfect idea we can form historically, if I may use such an expression, of the existence of God or of eternity.

"In the beginning was the Word." Was there nothing beside Him? Impossible! Of what would He have been the Word? "The Word was with God." That is to say, a personal existence is ascribed to Him. But, lest it may be thought that He was something which eternity implies but which the Holy Ghost comes to reveal, it is said that He "was God." Also, in His existence eternal--in His nature divine--in His Person distinct, He might have been spoken of as an emanation in time, as though His personality were of time, although eternal in His nature. The Spirit therefore adds, "In the beginning he was with God." It is the revelation of the eternal Logos before all creation.

This Gospel therefore really begins before Genesis. The Book of Genesis gives us the history of the world in time: John gives us that of the Word, who existed in eternity before the world was; who--when man can speak of beginning--was; and, consequently, did not begin to exist. The language of the Gospel is as plain as possible, and, like the sword of paradise, turns every way, in opposition to the thoughts and reasonings of man, to defend the divinity and personality of the Son of God.

“When you think about God’s call and will for your life, don’t think so much in terms of where you will eventually end up or what you will ultimately do. Instead think in terms of what God’s will is for you right now! What is in your hand? What does He want from you today?”
