Lydia Wandera checked into Busia County Referral Hospital on April 28th, overwhelmed by unbearable abdominal pain. She was heavily expectant. But joy quickly turned to fear when doctors informed her that her life was at risk, and the only hope was to perform an emergency cesarean section.
After the surgery, Lydia’s condition worsened. She was urgently transferred to Lifecare Hospital in Bungoma, but the doctors there were unable to stabilize her. In a desperate bid to save her life, she was rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Lydia was admitted to the ICU, but the complications proved too severe. She had lost a significant amount of blood and, despite every effort, she sadly passed away.
Her baby survived. A new life, born in the shadow of a heartbreaking loss.
Lydia had just celebrated her wedding in December 2024. She hadn’t even finished unwrapping her gifts.
