Respecting The Body Of The Dead Person

His Grace Maurice Makumba Mukhatia, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kisumu explained!

It is a Catholic teaching. The body is the temple of God!! The human body is concentrated during baptism, confirmation ordination, and anointing of the sick.

Bowing down to the body is a sign of respect, a simple greeting!!

Aaah huyu His Grace ,hunipamba, mwalimu ya philosophy!!

Maandamano ya Mikayu hayapo Sasa

We, members of the community and Stake holders have called off the scheduled protests on 25/6/2026 at Mikayu Senior Secondary School.

This decision has been reached at to allow the relevant agencies to carry out on going investigations and inspection at the school.

We thank the school Board, the Sub county and County Directorate of Education for the quick response to our cry to save the school from collapsing.

Further, we have suspended the intention to submit our complains to the EACC as planned on Monday next week. We have faith in the county and and sub county Directorates of education, and we expect they will rectify the situation.

God bless Mikayu Secondary School, Education is the key to success.

Catholic Doctrine On Blessing The Grave & Sacrilege

A Catholic blessing of a grave is a sacred act, often led by a priest or deacon, asking God to watch over the resting place of a loved one. The rite includes Scripture reading (e.g., Revelation 21 or Psalm 23), intercessions, and a final blessing with holy water, emphasizing the hope of resurrection.

The Blessing

O God, by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest,
Bless + these grave(s) and send your holy angels to watch over them.
Look kindly upon all buried here.
Now freed from the bonds of mortality,
count them among the saints in heaven.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sacrilege

It is a deliberate violation or misuse of what we is regarded as sacred. Sacrilege is the action of desecrating something, eg entering a grave to perform a cultural practices after the priest has performed the sacred blessing is described as "the desecration of a grave."

When the sacrilegious offence is verbal, it is called blasphemy, and when physical, it is often called desecration.

Sacrilege is the violation or injurious treatment of sacred object, site or person eg. Irreverence to sacred persons (Rev. Father's, Sisters, Brothers, etc including scandalizing them), places and things used in reverence.

Sacrilege is punished under canon law including but not limited to excommunication from the church.

Catholic Church and Bukusu Burial Cultural Practices clash

The Bungoma Catholic Vicar General and Parish priest of the St. Barnabas Bukembe Catholic parish, Very Rev. Fr. Julius Oyoo has warned catholic faithful that the church shall always protect it's holy sacraments during burial rites of it's faithful and shall not bow down to allow unacceptable cultural practices during burial of it's faithful. He said this after a Sunday mass at St. Monica Kiboochi sub parish.

A bitter Very Rev. Fr. Julius, said as a catholic priest, he has a duty to protect holy sacrament during the burial rites. He added that the law of the republic of Kenya gives the commissioned religious leaders authority to bury the dead according to their faith but not cultural practices. He cited examples of removing shoes from the dead, neck tie, or burying with the torch as meaningless and unacceptable cultural practices during the burial.

He asked the faithfuls to observe time for mass, which he has said, in his parish, it will remain 12PM. On this, he said the church is invited by the bereaved family through the small Christian community, to burry the late but not the clan. He said the priests or their representatives shall walkout in any burial ceremony of a catholic faithful once they notice that there is violation of catholism and rites of the universal apostolic church, the Roman Catholic Church. He said when a priest walks out of the burrial ceremony, there are religious repercussions associated to this that may affect the family or those involved.

The Bungoma Catholic Bishop Gives a Name "EDWIN" to 120 young men.

The Bungoma Catholic Bishop His Lordship Mark Kadima named all the 120 Young men during the Sacrament of confirmation "Edwin" at a confirmation Mass held at St. Barnabas Bukembe Catholic parish. The jovial shepherd asked his sheep to use well the gifts of the holy spirit to help the community and shun being ecocentric! He said everyone has a unique gift from the holy spirit and all gifts should be used to help the society, community and benefit beyond the bearers!

The Bishop celebrated this mass while the Bungoma son of the soil Edwin Sifuna was in Kisumu City declaring Gvn Orengo the party leader of ODM Linda mwanainchi!

Present at this mass was the former Bumula MP and assistant Minister Dr. Wakoli Bifwoli who the prelate hailed for his contribution to help the community!
