From the Ascension of Jesus to the Descent of the Holy Spirit, Christ reveals the fullness of His risen life and lovingly prepares His followers for the coming of the Holy Spirit.
After His Resurrection, Jesus remained with His disciples for forty days — appearing to them, strengthening their faith, and teaching them about the Kingdom of God. The Ascension marked not an absence, but a transformation of His presence. Though He ascended into Heaven and was seated at the right hand of the Father, He remained close to His people, guiding them toward the mission they were called to fulfill.
Before ascending, Jesus commanded His disciples to remain together in prayer and wait for the promise of the Father. In obedience and trust, they gathered with the Blessed Virgin Mary, praying and preparing their hearts for what was to come. Those days between Ascension and Pentecost became a sacred time of waiting — a quiet season filled with hope, expectation, and surrender to God’s will.
Then came Pentecost: the moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles like tongues of fire. Fear was transformed into courage. Weakness became strength. Ordinary men became bold witnesses of Christ to the nations. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Church was born and sent forth into the world.
This sacred journey from Ascension to Pentecost also speaks to our own lives. There are moments when God calls us to wait, to trust, and to pray even when we do not yet see what He is preparing. Like the disciples, we are invited to remain faithful in the waiting, knowing that God never abandons His people.
May this holy season draw our hearts closer to Heaven, renew our faith in the risen Christ, and prepare us to receive the transforming fire of the Holy Spirit more deeply into our lives. Come, Holy Spirit, come. 🙏🔥
