Learning from David's mistakes!

We learned of two terrible mistakes that David committed: 1) Adultery with Bathsheba (2 Sam. 11:1-5) and 2) Killing Uriah, her husband (11:14-17).

David repented of these sins, and God forgave him, but he had to suffer the consequences of his mistakes, which were: 1) His child died (12:19), 2) His son, Amnon, r***d his half-sister, Tamar (13:14), and 3) Another son, Absalom, killed Amnon! (13:29)
So David suffered intense pain within his own family because of his sins!

When we repent, God will graciously forgive, but sometimes we must pay the penalty for our sins! This is an important lesson to remember to help us resist the many temptations that attack us all the time!

Who is my neighbor?

Mark 12:29-31 says that the greatest commandment is to love God with everything within us and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

In Luke 10:29, an expert in the law, wanting to justify himself, asked, “And who is my neighbor?”
In reply, Jesus gave the famous parable of the Good Samaritan in v. 30-37. In New Testament times, the Samaritans were looked down upon by the Jews as being a lesser people.

Yet a Samaritan had compassion on a wounded Jewish man and took care of him. We are called to have compassion on the downtrodden that we come across, heal them, pray for them and take care of them as we would ourselves.

When we become good Samaritans, people will be drawn to Jesus, and we can build a glorious church.

My testimony as a good Samaritan: Once I helped a little girl in a car accident, and yet the mother wanted to sue me! Sometimes we don’t receive thanks, but that’s okay! Let’s help people anyway!

Interesting news:
Mountains bigger than Everest may exist deep inside the earth!

Our planet is made of at least 3 parts: outward crust, mantle, and core, with a “660-km boundary” that divides the mantle into upper and lower sections.

By analyzing seismic data from the massive 8.2 M Bolivian earthquake of 1994 with supercomputer technology, researchers at Princeton University announced on 14 Feb that they made an amazing discovery.

The “660-km boundary” is much rougher than any mountain ridges found on earth, which means there probably are mountains larger than Everest located far below our oceans!

Critics ridicule as impossible Jesus’ words in Mark 11:23, “Whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ ...and believes...he will have whatever he says.”

But now modern geologists are saying there are mountains, not only in the sea but actually under the sea as well!

Bible teaching:
How to have an effective Word ministry

How was Paul’s Sword of the Spirit so effective in winning multitudes and building churches?

He says in 1 Thes. 1:5, “For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.” In other words, Paul’s preaching had POWER: Healing, deliverance, miracles, etc,

It also had the HOLY SPIRIT: One application is worship in Spirit and truth! At SI, we want to have powerful worship which produces the presence of God! Praise that drives out evil spirits like David’s did!
And it also had ASSURANCE: This came by Paul’s lifestyle and character! This means the fruit of the Spirit!

Just as the medieval sword was discovered recently, God wants us to rediscover the Sword of the Spirit in preaching the gospel in order to get abundant results like Paul did! Amen!

A well-preserved sword was found recently in Denmark!

The sword was 1.1 m long but only weighed 1 kg because of its excellent workmanship and advanced design.

Historians believe it was made in the 12th-14th century and belonged to a wealthy nobleman.

This sword from the past reminds us of the greatest sword in the world—the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God!

At SI, we want to learn how to use this Sword in spiritual warfare to defeat our enemy, Satan!

How and why will this world age end?
1 Thes. 5:2-3 says, “…the day of the Lord (time of Christ’s return) comes as a thief in the night…sudden destruction will come upon them…”

This is a prophecy of how this world age will end!

But why will this age end?

Let’s look at S***m and Gomorrah for a hint. Gen 19:24 says that they came to an end when brimstone and fire fell upon them! According to Bible scholars, this happened because of their sexual preference behavior (Gen. 19:4-5).

The recent spread of the LGBT movement in many countries, including Japan, may be a sign that what happened to S***m may happen to our world in the near future!

Noah’s flood also gives us a warning about why the world was destroyed.
Gen.6:11 says one cause of the flood was “…the earth was filled with violence.”

Today we see violence filling the earth again, especially through global terrorism! Is it possible that we are nearing the end of this world age? Bible prophecies seem to say, “Yes.”

If so, 1 Thes. 5:6 warns, “We should not sleep as some do, but watch and be ready.” So we need to study about the end times in order to be prepared for what will come!

A House of Prayer or a Den of Thieves?

Matt 21:13 ‘My house (church) shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’
What is a “house of prayer church”?

It is a church that welcomes Jesus into their midst by worshiping in spirit and in truth! Matt 21:9 Then the multitudes…cried out…“Hosanna to the Son of David!” (as they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem)

It is a church where Jesus is present to save, heal and deliver with supernatural power! (Matt 21:14 Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.)

What is a “den of thieves church”?

It is a church more concerned about making money than worshiping God. (Matt 21:12 Then Jesus…drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple... )
It is a church ruled by jealousy, judging, anger and criticism!

It is a church that drives out the presence of Jesus from their city! (Matt 21:15 The chief priests and scribes…were indignant…16 and said…, “Do you hear what these are saying?”)

Matt 21:17 Then He left them and went out of the city…

This kind of church is a den of thieves because it robs the city of Jesus’ presence, blessings, salvation, healing and revival!


So SI in Japan, let’s not be a den of thieves! Rather, let’s become a house of prayer that welcomes Jesus to Japan to bring revival!

A cure for cancer

Scientists from Accelerated Evolution Biotechnologies (AEBi) in Israel believe they have found a cure for cancer and hope to make it available in the near future! Their cancer treatment is called MuTaTo, which stands for “multi-target toxin.”


They use a combination of peptides and toxins to target and effectively kill multiple cancer cells at a much less cost than other treatments.


AEBi also uses a platform called SoAP technology to locate specific cells and target them for treatment. Let’s pray that MuTaTo will live up to expectations and be on the market soon!


God also produced a cure for man’s problem of sin by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross as our substitute! When we say “Thank you!” to God and accept Jesus’ gift of forgiveness, he gives us eternal life! Truly this is good news!


It’s amazing that AEBi uses SoAP technology for cancer treatment!


At SI, we also use SOAP in our devotions to dig deep into God’s Word and find truths that help us to grow and overcome our carnal self!

Bible teaching: The feeding of the 5,000
We studied the story of the feeding of the 5,000 in Mark 6:34-44 along the theme: “You give them something to eat!” That’s what Jesus told his disciples to do when they saw the hungry crowd.

But the disciples didn’t think they could feed the people, so they told Jesus to send the crowd away!

But Jesus took the little that was available, 5 loaves and 2 fish, and used it to fill the people’s needs!

He was showing us that even though we think we’re little, he can use us to meet people’s needs if we put our trust in God!

So at SI, we don’t want to ignore the multitudes in Tokyo, but we want to learn how to obey Jesus’ command: “You give them something to eat,” and meet the needs of the weak and hungry!

God blessed and the Holy Spirit touched all of us! Here is a summary of the meeting.

BIBLE: What is Shalom International? It's a place that changes us from Wimps to Warriors!
1 Sam 22:1-2. The men who gathered around David at the cave of Adullam were wimps, losers, failures.

1 Sam 30:1-4. When the enemy robbed all their possessions and took their families, they blamed David and wanted to stone him! But David's reaction was different. He strengthened himself in the Lord! As a result, he was able to defeat the enemy and recover all their possessions and families (1 Sam 30:18)! So David's men learned by watching him and over time changed from wimps to warriors!

2 Sam 23:8-21. At the end, David's men became legendary warriors who fought with ferocity and defeated all their enemies! We can change into warriors, too, by learning from our David--Jesus Christ!

PRAYER: What we want most is for God's presence to be with us. As we prayed at the end of SI for Jesus to change us from wimps into warriors, God's Spirit swept over us in a powerful way! This is what we need! Every time we meet we want to touch Jesus and be changed! He is working in all of us!
