聖堂入口には、かつて鐘楼に取り付けられていた鐘が3基置かれ、その間に大理石製の十字架像が据えられています。内陣左側には日常のミサが行われる小聖堂、右側には福者ユスト髙山右近の聖遺物と関連展示があります。

1．小聖堂
小聖堂には、聖フランシスコ・ザビエルのステンドグラスと、細井正司作の木彫十字架（1986年）が設置されています。祭壇両脇にはルンガルジェ作の聖アグネス像と聖フランシスコ・ザビエル像が安置されています。入口付近には「キリストの埋葬」のレリーフが展示されています。

2．福者ユスト髙山右近
内陣右側には、福者ユスト髙山右近の聖遺物を展示した祈りの場があります。また、2021年に村田佳代子画伯から寄贈された連作絵画「福者ユスト髙山右近の生涯」を展示しています。

3．鐘楼と鐘
1963年の献堂時、大聖堂のそばに高さ67メートルの鐘楼が建てられ、8つの鐘が設置されました。鐘楼は阪神・淡路大震災後の1995年に解体されましたが、現在も4つの鐘が玉造に残されています。司教館入口に1基、大聖堂入口に3基が置かれており、そのうち1基は2017年の福者ユスト髙山右近列福式で再び鳴らされました。

Main Entrance and Highlights of the Cathedral
At the entrance of the cathedral, three bells that were once installed in the bell tower are displayed, with a marble crucifix standing between them.

On the left side of the sanctuary is a chapel used for daily Masses, while on the right side are the relics of Blessed Justo Takayama Ukon and related exhibits.

1. The Chapel
The chapel features a stained-glass window depicting St. Francis Xavier and a wooden crucifix carved by Masashi Hosoi (1986). Flanking the altar are statues of St. Agnes and St. Francis Xavier by Rungarger. Near the entrance is a relief sculpture entitled The Burial of Christ.

2. Blessed Justo Takayama Ukon
On the right side of the sanctuary is a prayer area where relics of Blessed Justo Takayama Ukon are displayed. Also exhibited is the series of paintings The Life of Blessed Justo Takayama Ukon, donated in 2021 by the artist Kayoko Murata.

3. The Bell Tower and Bells
When the cathedral was dedicated in 1963, a 67-meter-high bell tower was erected beside the cathedral, and eight bells were installed. Following the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the tower was dismantled in 1995. Today, four of the original bells remain in Tamatsukuri: one stands at the entrance to the Bishop’s Residence and three are displayed at the cathedral entrance. One of these bells was rung again during the Beatification Ceremony of Blessed Justo Takayama Ukon in 2017.

6月の祈りの意向

2026年　教皇による祈りの世界ネットワーク（PWPN）祈りの意向について
教皇フランシスコによって2016年に教皇庁の運動として位置づけられ、「教皇による祈りの世界ネットワーク（PWPN：Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network）」といいます。
そして、教皇ご自身が意向について毎月第1金曜日にビデオレターで直接語りかけるプログラム（教皇のビデオ）も始まり、世界中で視聴されています。2020年からは日本語の字幕も付けられています。「カトリックジャパンニュース」には、その月の意向の解説が掲載されています。

教皇の意向：スポーツの価値
スポーツが、国家間や異文化間の平和、出会 い、対話の道具となり、尊厳、連帯、個人の成長といった価値を高めるものとなりますように。

日本の教会の意向：教皇
教皇レオ14世のために祈ります。教会に与えられた牧者が、神の恵みに満たされて、教会と世界の善のために奉仕していくことができますように。

May sports become a means of peace, encounter, and dialogue among nations and cultures, and may they foster the values of dignity, solidarity, and personal growth.

We pray for Pope Leo XIV. May the shepherd given to the Church be filled with God’s grace and serve for the good of the Church and the world.

マリアの宣教者フランシスコ修道会　神戸修道院閉院

5月20日、マリアの宣教者フランシスコ修道会神戸修道院の閉院にあたり、前田万葉大司教が訪問されました。
神戸海星女子学院に隣接する修道院では、長年にわたりシスター方が教育と宣教に尽くされてきました。これまでの歩みに感謝をささげ、ともに祈りを捧げました。

祈りの中で大司教は、
「この修道院の使命は一区切りを迎えますが、ここで育まれた祈りと愛、そして福音の希望は、これからも教会の歩みの中に生き続けます。」
と感謝を述べられました。

On May 20, Archbishop Manyo Maeda visited the Kobe convent of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary on the occasion of its closure.

For many years, the sisters faithfully served in education and missionary work alongside Kobe Kaisei Girls’ School. Together, prayers of gratitude were offered for their devoted service and witness.

During the prayer, Archbishop Maeda said:
“Although the mission of this convent is coming to a close, the prayer, love, and hope of the Gospel nurtured here will continue to live on in the journey of the Church.”

教皇レオ14世は、５月３０日の午後７時(日本時間３１日、午前２時)に、平和のために世界中でロザリオの祈りを唱えるように呼びかけられました。聖母月の終わりに全世界の聖母に捧げられた聖堂と一致して同時に祈りを捧げられることを呼びかけられています。

Pope Leo XIV has called on the faithful throughout the world to pray the Rosary for peace on May 30 at 7:00 p.m. (Rome time), which corresponds to 2:00 a.m. on May 31 in Japan.

At the conclusion of the Month of Mary, he invites Catholics everywhere to unite in prayer simultaneously with Marian shrines around the world dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

聖マリア大聖堂のステンドグラスは、建物全体を祈りの空間として形づくる重要な要素であり、聖書の物語とマリアの生涯を光で語る「聖書そのもの」として配置されています。ステンドグラスは東側の北から順に物語が始まります。

The stained glass windows of St. Mary’s Cathedral are an essential element that shapes the entire building into a space of prayer. Arranged as “the Bible in light,” they narrate the stories of Sacred Scripture and the life of Mary through light and color. The sequence of the stained glass begins on the eastern side, starting from the north, where the narrative unfolds in order.

甲山墓参
5月20日、兵庫県西宮市にある甲山墓園において、帰天された司教・司祭の墓参が行われました。

前田万葉大司教、酒井俊弘補佐司教司式のもと、司祭団とともに追悼ミサがささげられました。雨の心配をよそに、当日は陽射しが照りつけるほどの好天に恵まれ、100人を超える信徒や親族が参列しました。帰天された方々への思いのこもった祈りと歌声が、一帯に響きわたりました。

また、ミサに先立ち、野田正弘神父による納骨式が執り行われました。

On May 20, a memorial visit to the graves of deceased bishops and priests was held at Kabutoyama Cemetery in Nishinomiya.

A memorial Mass was celebrated by Abp. Manyo Maeda and Bp. Toshihiro Sakai together with the clergy. Despite concerns about rain, the day was blessed with beautiful weather and bright sunshine. More than 100 faithful and family members gathered to pray for those who had passed away, and their heartfelt prayers and hymns resounded throughout the cemetery.

Prior to the Mass, the rite of interment was conducted by Fr. Masahiro Noda.

カテドラル聖マリア大聖堂について第3弾を掲載します。　

聖マリア大聖堂内観
大阪高松カテドラル聖マリア大聖堂では、主祭壇・説教台・司教座が「聖化・教導・統治」という司教の務めを象徴し、天井の大十字架はヨハネ福音書の場面を通してマリアが教会の母であることを示している。
正面には堂本印象画伯による日本画「栄光の聖母マリア」が掲げられ、日本の教会共同体とキリスト教史を象徴する独自の聖母子像として、聖堂の精神的中心を形づくっている。
また、チロル地方の彫刻家ルンガルチェによる木彫の「十字架の道行き」14場面が配置され、イエスの受難の歩みを黙想する伝統的な祈りへと招いている。

Interior of St. Mary’s Cathedral
Within the Cathedral of St. Mary the main altar, pulpit and celebrant chair symbolize
the bishop’s threefold ministry of sanctifying, teaching, and governing. The great crucifix suspended from the ceiling depicts scenes from the Gospel of John, expressing that Mary is revealed as Mother of the Church.
At the front is displayed the Japanese-style painting Our Lady of Glory by the renowned artist Inshō Dōmoto. Symbolizing both the Japanese Christian community and the history of Christianity in Japan, this unique Madonna and Child image forms the spiritual heart of the cathedral.
Throughout the cathedral, the 14 Station of the Cross, carved in wood by the Tyrolean sculptor Runggaldier, invite the visitor into a traditional meditation on Christ’s Passion.

助祭・神学生 研修旅行🕊️

5月4日～6日、助祭・神学生の研修旅行が行われました。

前半の2日間は、前田万葉大司教様の故郷・上五島へ。
潜伏キリシタンの歴史に触れながら、信仰を守り続けた先人たちの歩みや、教会堂建立に込められた祈りと願いを学ぶ貴重な機会となりました。

上五島にある29の教会堂のうち、13の教会堂を巡礼し祈りを捧げ、さらに2つの教会堂を遠くから望みました。
また、大司教様とともに魚釣りを楽しむ時間もあり、助祭・神学生たちにとって、学びと交流に満ちた豊かな日々となりました。

後半は長崎市内へ移動し、

を訪問。

長崎と五島に息づく信仰の歴史を学び、祈りを深める恵みの旅となりました。

Formation Trip for Deacons and Seminarians 🕊️

From May 4 to May 6, our deacons and seminarians took part in a formation trip.

During the first two days, they visited Kamigoto, the hometown of Archbishop Manyo Maeda. There, they had the opportunity to learn about the history of the Hidden Christians and the deep faith and hopes that inspired the construction of the churches that still stand today.

Out of the 29 churches in Kamigoto, they made pilgrimages to 13 churches and offered prayers there, while also viewing two other churches from a distance.
They also enjoyed time fishing together with the Archbishop, making these days a rich experience of learning, fellowship, and joyful memories.

On the final day, the group returned to Nagasaki City and visited:

⛪ The Twenty-Six Martyrs Museum
⛪ Urakami Cathedral
🕊️ Peace Memorial Park

It became a blessed journey of prayer and learning, deepening their understanding of the history of faith in Nagasaki and the Goto Islands.
