京都・百万遍知恩寺
境内にある「石刻阿弥陀経」をお参り🙏
石刻阿弥陀経は、中国・南宋時代に刻まれた阿弥陀経の石碑で、福岡県の宗像大社に国重要文化財の原碑が伝わり、小松谷 正林寺にも模刻が存在します。
石刻阿弥陀経には、現在一般に読まれている『阿弥陀経』には見られない二十一文字が刻まれています。
「専持名号 以称名故 諸罪消滅 即是多善根福徳因縁」
法然上人はこの文を重視され、お念仏こそが阿弥陀さまの本願にかなった尊い行であるとお示しくださいました。
八百年以上の時を超えて伝わる石の経典。
その前に立ちながら、改めてお念仏のありがたさを味わわせていただきました。

At Chion-ji Temple in Kyoto,
I paid my respects before the Stone Inscription of the Amitabha Sutra (Sekkoku Amida-kyo) 🙏
This stone inscription is a monument of the Amitabha Sutra carved during China’s Southern Song Dynasty. The original, designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, is preserved at Munakata Taisha, and a replica can also be found at Shorin-ji Temple.
The inscription contains twenty-one characters that do not appear in the version of the Amitabha Sutra commonly recited today:
“Holding exclusively to the Sacred Name, and reciting it, all sins are extinguished; this itself is the cause of abundant roots of goodness and merit.”
Honen regarded this passage as especially important, teaching that the recitation of the Nembutsu is the noble practice that accords with Amida Buddha’s Original Vow.
Standing before this stone scripture, transmitted across more than eight centuries, I was once again reminded of the profound blessing of the Nembutsu.
