大山神社は、しまなみ海道沿線 因島の土生町、瀬戸内の島々を見渡す小高い丘に鎮座しており、宝亀四年(七七三)伊予国大三島の大山祇神社よりご分霊を勧請し、隠島大神と称したといわれている因島最古の神社です。
Oyama Shrine is located on Innoshima island along the Shimanami Kaido, on a small hill overlooking the town of Habu and the islands in the Seto Inland Sea. Oyamazumi Okami, the deity of mountains, in Omishima island was spiritually divided and invited to the island. The diety was later called Innos
hima Okami, the Innoshima Great Deity.
中世、因島村上水軍の守護神として崇敬され、安土桃山時代には因島総氏子中より本殿拝殿の改修奉納がされ、江戸時代には郡中祈願所として広く崇敬を集め、今日「祈りの宮」「願掛けの社」として、「せとうち七福神」のお宮として全国から年間三万人を超える参拝者でにぎわう。
In the Middle Ages, it was revered as the guardian deity of the Innoshima Murakami clan, Innoshima Murakami Kaizoku - Sea Samurais, and the main worship hall renovation was dedicated by the parishioners in the island in the late 16th century. In the Edo period, the shrine became the place of prayer in the region. Today, it is crowded with over 30,000 worshipers annually from all over the country as a shrine of prayer, making wishes, and the Seven Lucky Gods of Setouchi.
