　イエスは悪魔による誘惑を申命記に記された十戒の中の第一の戒めについての言葉を引用して退けました。イエスを信じる者もまた同じ誘惑にさらされています。悪魔の誘惑を退けるために私たちにできることは、悪魔の誘惑を退けたイエスと共に日々の歩みを続けることです。イエスが悪魔に対して応えられた申命記の言葉を心に刻みつけて、主イエスと共に歩み続けましょう。

Jesus rejected the devil's temptation by quoting the first commandment from the Ten Commandments, as recorded in Deuteronomy. Those who believe in Jesus are also exposed to the same temptation. What we can do to resist the devil's temptation is to continue walking daily with Jesus, who rejected the devil's temptation. Let us engrave in our hearts the words from Deuteronomy in which Jesus responded to the devil, and continue walking with the Lord Jesus.

聖霊様が私たちに働く時、私たちはイエス様の愛を確信できます。そして、イエス様の愛を確信した私たちの喜びと希望は、周りの人たちにも伝わります。そのように聖霊様が人々の心を動かしたことによって、教会は始まりました。教会は、互いの違いを尊重し、互いの弱さを受け入れ合い、互いの必要を満たすために仕え合い、愛し合う人々の共同体です。それは、教会に集う私たち一人ひとりに聖霊様が働いてくださらなければ、実現不可能です。聖霊様によって、私たちそれぞれの傲慢と偏見を打ち砕いていただき、イエス様の愛を体現する教会になりましょう。

When the Holy Spirit works in us, we can be certain of Jesus’ love. And the joy and hope we feel from this certainty are spread to those around us. It was through the Holy Spirit moving people’s hearts in this way that the church began. The church is a community of people who respect one another’s differences, accept one another’s weaknesses, serve one another to meet each other’s needs, and love one another. This would be impossible without the Holy Spirit working in each and every one of us who gather in the church. May the Holy Spirit shatter our arrogance and prejudice, so that we may become a church that embodies the love of Jesus.

　人々の弱さ、罪深さを自分自身のこととして担われ十字架にかかられたイエスにとって、自分自身に罪はなくても、ヨハネから罪の赦しを得させるための悔い改めの洗礼を受けることは正しいことでした。
　わたしたちは、イエスがあえてヨハネから洗礼を受けたことを通して、イエスがどれほど私たちに近づき、支えてくださる神様であるかを知っています。
　私たちは、イエスのように、イエスが助けたいと願っている人々の助けとなる生き方をすることを神様から期待されています。

For Jesus, who bore the weakness and sinfulness of humanity as his own and was crucified, even though he himself was without sin, receiving the baptism of repentance from John to obtain forgiveness of sins was the right thing to do.
Through Jesus' willingness to be baptized by John, we know how close He is to us and how much He supports us.
God expects us to live in a way that helps those whom Jesus desires to help, just as He did.

ヨハネによる福音書17章に記録されているイエス様の祈りは、ご自分の死を目前にしたイエス様が、神様の素晴らしさを確信し、ご自分を信じる者たちを通して世界は変えられていくということを確信した、希望に満ちた祈りです。イエス様は今も私たちのために祈り、神様の愛がこの世界で伝えられていくために、私たちがこの世界にいながらこの世界に属さず神様に属する者として生きていくことを望んでおられます。

Jesus' prayer recorded in John 17 is a prayer filled with hope, spoken as He faced His own death, confident in God's greatness and certain that the world would be transformed through those who believe in Him. Jesus continues to pray for us even now, and He desires that we live as people who belong to God—not of this world, even while we are in it—so that God's love may be proclaimed throughout the world.

創られた神様から迷い出たのは私たちの方なのですが、私たちは、あたかも神様の方が身を隠したかのように、文句を言い、勝手にがっかりしたり絶望したりします。神様はそんな私たちにイエスとしてご自身を表され、もう一度私たちが神様との関係を取り戻すことができるようにしてくださいました。ところが、この喜びを経験をした人でも、イエスから目を離し逸れていってしまう人が少なくありません。イエスは、逃げも隠れもなさいません。私たちが心から捧げる礼拝の中にイエスは確かにおられます。

It is we who have strayed from the God who created us, yet we complain, become disappointed, and despair as if God were hiding Himself. God revealed Himself to us as Jesus, allowing us to rediscover our relationship with Him. However, even those who have experienced this joy often turn their eyes away from Jesus and stray from Him. Jesus neither runs nor hides. He is certainly present in the worship we offer from our hearts.

イエス様がこの地上をどのように歩まれた人物だったのか、その人柄と言動の全ては、神様の愛を私たちに教えてくれます。特に、イエス様の死と復活の出来事は、神様が私たちの罪と弱さを赦し、私たちにいつも感謝と喜びを持って生きることができるようになってほしいという神様の愛の証です。イエス様は、私たちは自分たちの罪のゆえに必ず苦難に遭うけれども、神様の愛を信頼して生きるなら、全ては希望につながるのだと教えてくださっています。だから、自分の弱さにもこの世界の悪にも立ち向かえるように、「勇気を出しなさい」と言われています。

Everything about Jesus—who He was as a person and how He lived His life on earth—teaches us about God’s love. In particular, the events of Jesus’ death and resurrection are a testament to God’s love, showing that He forgives our sins and weaknesses and desires for us to live our lives filled with gratitude and joy. Jesus teaches us that although we will inevitably face suffering because of our sins, if we live trusting in God’s love, everything leads to hope. That is why He tells us to “take heart," so that we may face both our own weaknesses and the evil in this world.

イエスは私たちが「キリスト教徒」であることより、イエスの道を歩む者であることを喜ばれます。「キリストの道」は儀式や教義よりも、イエスをハブとした個人的関係性を大切にする、強制的ではなく自律的な、恐れと不安ではなく喜びと平安に満ちた人生の歩みです。私たちが信じているのは「キリスト教」ではなく、私たちの道であり、真理であり、命である主イエス・キリストなのです。

Jesus is more pleased with us for walking in His way than for us to be "Christians." The "Way of Christ" is a life lived with joy and peace, not fear or anxiety, that values personal relationships centered on Jesus more than rituals or doctrines, and is autonomous rather than coercive. What we believe in is not "Christianity," but the Lord Jesus Christ, who is our way, our truth, and our life.

私たちは自分たちの過ちと弱さの中で行くべき方向を見失い、時には悲しみと絶望で動けなくなってしまいます。でも、イエス様は私たち一人ひとりに出会ってくださり、ご自身が今も生きておられ、私たちそれぞれと共に歩んでくださっているのだと教えてくださいます。そのことを確信するなら、どんな状況においても私たちの心には希望と喜びが生まれます。神様はいつも、この見えない希望と喜びを世界に伝える使命を、自分の弱さを知っている人に与えられます。

Amid our mistakes and weaknesses, we lose sight of the path we should take, and at times, we become stuck in sorrow and despair. Yet Jesus meets each one of us and assures us that He is alive today and walks alongside each of us. If we are certain of this, hope and joy will spring up in our hearts no matter what circumstances we face. God always entrusts the mission of sharing this unseen hope and joy with the world to those who are aware of their own weaknesses.

古い自分がイエスと共に十字架で死んだこと、イエスと共によみがえり新しい永遠の命を与えられていること、神様に似たものとして創られた者に相応しく生きるために聖霊の力が欠かせないこと。これら三つのことのうち、一つでもおろそかにするなら、神様に期待されている生き方をすることが難しくなります。これらを日々新たに確認し、恵みを実感するために私たちは礼拝を中心とした毎日を送るのです。

We recognize that our old selves died with Jesus on the cross, that we were resurrected with Jesus and given new, eternal life, and that the power of the Holy Spirit is essential for us to live in a manner worthy of those created in God's image. If we neglect even one of these three things, it becomes difficult to live the life that God expects of us. We live each day centered on worship in order to reaffirm these things daily and to truly experience His grace.

私たちが経験する苦しみは、人間の罪によるもの（人間関係の問題、社会問題、環境問題、国際問題など）と、私たちには理解できない理不尽なもの（災害や病気など）があります。その両方を含むすべての苦しみから私たちを救い出すために、イエス様は十字架で死なれました。イエス様は、人の悪意や無関心がもたらす絶望を知っておられ、神様が苦しみを取り去ってくださらない絶望も知っておられます。そして、それらは決して神様の愛と正義を打ち消すことはないのだと、ご自身の復活によって証明して下さいました。

The suffering we experience comes in two forms: that caused by human sin—such as problems in relationships, social issues, environmental problems, and international conflicts—and that which is seemingly unjust, beyond our understanding—such as natural disasters and illness. Jesus died on the cross to save us from all suffering, including both of these. Jesus knew the despair caused by human evil and indifference, and He also knew the despair that comes when God does not take away suffering. Through His resurrection, He proved that these things never diminish God's love and justice.
