竹林寺境内に草月流 高知県支部の皆さまによるいけばなが飾られています。

「花へんろ」と題したこのいけばな展は、お遍路さんや霊場寺院を訪れる参詣の方に、花による「おもてなし」を届けようとする試みで、四国四県の草月流各支部で取り組まれています。

2027年に創流百周年を迎える草月流と、四国ならではの豊かな文化を今に伝える遍路。
花を通じて人と人、人と自然、過去と現在をつなぐ、すばらしい取り組みです。

竹林寺での展示は6日（水）まで。
同期間、第三十番札所 善楽寺さまでも展示があります。

Ikebana arrangements by the Kochi branch of the Sogetsu School are currently on display at Chikurin-ji Temple.

Titled “Hana Henro,” this exhibition is a shared initiative by Sogetsu branches across Shikoku, offering floral hospitality to pilgrims and visitors to sacred temples.

As Sogetsu approaches its 100th anniversary in 2027, this project beautifully connects people, nature, and time through flowers—resonating with the rich cultural tradition of the Shikoku pilgrimage.

On view at Chikurin-ji through Wednesday the 6th.
A parallel exhibition is also held at Temple No.30, Zenraku-ji.

近年、欧米を中心に世界から関心が高まる四国遍路。
その魅力を多言語動画で世界に発信するポータルサイト「OHENRO.ONLINE」が公開されました。

音楽家・のこぎり演奏家　西村直晃氏の展覧会を開催いたします。

なにげない日常の風景――
たとえば、電線に止まる鳥や、
自動販売機の足元に転がる空き缶。

そうした光景を五線譜の音符に見立て、
音として奏でる。

西村氏の「偶然の音を聴く」活動は、
普段とは少し異なる視点から
日常風景を眺めるきっかけを
私たちに与えてくれます。

本展では、これまでの作品に加え、
西村氏が高知の街で見つけた「日常のドレミ」、
さらに竹林寺の名勝庭園を「聴く」作品も展示いたします。

お子さまから大人の方まで、
幅広い世代にお楽しみいただける展覧会です。

会期終盤にはワークショップも予定しております（詳細は竹林寺ホームページ、チラシをご覧ください）。

We are pleased to present an exhibition by musician and musical saw performer Naoaki Nishimura, whose work has gained attention on social media.

Everyday scenes—
birds resting on a power line,
empty cans lying at the base of a vending machine.

Such ordinary moments are reimagined as notes on a musical staff,
and transformed into sound.

Through his practice of “listening to accidental sounds,”
Nishimura offers us a way of seeing the familiar
from a slightly different perspective.

In addition to his previous works,
this exhibition features “Do-Re-Mi” collected from the streets of Kochi,
as well as a work that invites visitors to “listen” to the garden of Chikurin-ji Temple.

本坊前の普賢象桜（ふげんぞうさくら）が満開です。
この桜は、境内や庭園の桜の中で一番遅くに咲き、大きくボリューム感のある八重咲きの花が訪れた方を楽しませています。

この普賢象桜、おしべが象の鼻のように長く曲がって伸びているのが特徴です。このことから、お釈迦さまに付き従っておられる普賢菩薩さまが乗る象にたとえられ、この名前がついたと言われます。

普賢象桜の花が終わると、境内はいよいよ命みなぎる新緑の季節へと移ります。

The Fugenzo cherry blossoms are now at their peak.

They are the last to bloom on the temple grounds, known for their large, lush double petals that always catch visitors’ eyes.

One of their most distinctive features is the stamens, which extend and curve like an elephant’s trunk. This is said to be the origin of their name, inspired by Fugen Bosatsu, who is often depicted riding an elephant.

As these blossoms fade, the temple quietly shifts into the season of fresh, vibrant green.

小学校入学、おめでとう！
 
この春から小学校へ入学するこどもたちの健やかな成長と学校生活が実り多いものであるよう祈念する「ランドセル祈願会」が今年も3月末に行われました。
 
今年は5組のご家族が参加。
ランドセルを背負って本堂へ向かう子どもたちにご参詣の方々から拍手が送られました。
そして、善財童子像に献花をした後、本堂へ。
堂内では祈願の読経の中、ひとり一人のランドセルがていねいに加持されました。
 
「仏さまと仲良くなったので、これからは仏さまがちゃんと見守ってくれるよ！」の僧侶の言葉に子どもたちはにっこり。
 
小学校生活、めいっぱい楽しんでね、一年生！
 
The “Randoseru Blessing Ceremony,” held each year to pray for the healthy growth of children starting elementary school and for a fulfilling school life, took place again this spring.

This year, five families participated. As the children, carrying their randoseru backpacks, made their way to the main hall, other visitors warmly applauded them.

“You’ve become friends with the Buddha, so from now on, the Buddha will always be watching over you,” said one of the monks, bringing smiles to the children’s faces.

竹林寺のお隣・高知県立牧野植物園では南園の再整備が完了し、そのお披露目が行われました。

The South Garden of the neighboring Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden has been newly redeveloped and recently unveiled.

The refreshed area features traditional Edo-period horticultural displays, a Japanese garden, and a walking path connecting the garden with Chikurin-ji Temple, where visitors can enjoy seasonal plants.

With a new observatory set to open this autumn, we hope the garden and temple together will make Godaisan an even more beloved destination.

これは、この秋の五台山展望台「ソラミアン」のオープンを前に、五台山の夜の魅力を知ってもらおうとするものです。

竹林寺では、僧侶によりライトアップされた境内をご案内するとともに、本堂では瞑想体験も。
また、牧野植物園でも南園や温室がライトアップされています。

「訪れたことはあるけど深く知らなかった五台山の歴史や文化、自然に触れることができた。」「瞑想がとっても新鮮！」そんなお声をたくさんいただいています。

ソラミアンのオープンとともに本格化する五台山の夜の観光のためにも、そしてお寺や仏教の魅力をさらに伝えるためにも、竹林寺では一層努めていきたいと思います。

The Godaisan Night Tour has been receiving a wonderful response.

This program was created ahead of the opening of the Godaisan Observatory “Soramian” this autumn to introduce visitors to the unique charm of Mount Godaisan at night.

At Chikurin-ji Temple, monks guide participants through the temple grounds and invite them to experience a short meditation session in the main hall.
At the Makino Botanical Garden, visitors can also enjoy illuminated views of the South Garden and the greenhouse.

Through this fresh experience, participants rediscover the history and cultural richness of Mount Godaisan.

With the opening of Soramian expected to bring new momentum to nighttime tourism on Mount Godaisan, Chikurin-ji will continue working to share the temple's and Buddhism's charms with even more people.

3月2日、竹林寺本堂において「御宝号88億回念誦法要」が執り行われました。
当日は四国各地の札所寺院から住職・副住職が参集。
ご参列の方々とともに弘法大師の遺徳を讃える「南無大師遍照金剛」の御宝号をお唱えしました。
 
時まさに中東であらたな戦火の口火が切られました。
紛争や戦争、そして地震や災害で数多の人々が命を脅かされ、不自由な日々を余儀なくされる今、「世の中平安なれ！」とひたすら祈念をこらしました。

Many priests from Shikoku’s pilgrimage temples gathered for the occasion. Together with those in attendance, we chanted the sacred name “Namu Daishi Henjō Kongō,” praising the virtue and legacy of Kōbō Daishi.

At this very time, a new conflict has broken out in the Middle East.
As wars and conflicts continue around the world—and as earthquakes and disasters threaten the lives of many people—we offered our prayers with the sincere wish that peace may prevail.

令和8年3月2日(月)四国霊場第31番竹林寺様にて第38回御宝号88億回念誦法会『南無大師遍照金剛を一緒に唱えよう』無事お勤め致しました。
今回は御宝号をお唱えする前に発心式が執り行われ、参列者お一人おひとりに授五鈷の作法がなされました。
また職衆には大勢の札所ご寺院様のご参集を賜りました。

また、今回は併せて「88縁玉念珠」の開眼供養が執り行われ、念珠をお申込みのうえでご参列いただいた皆様には霊場会より念珠の授与がなされました。

御宝号88億回念誦法要を行います。
四国八十八ヶ所霊場会

これは真言宗を開くとともに我が国の今日の宗教・文化を礎をつくった弘法大師空海さまの遺徳を讃える御宝号「南無大師遍照金剛」を88億回を目指してお唱えする法会です。
弘法大師は四国八十八ヶ所霊場を開創された方として伝えられています。

なぜ88億回なのでしょう？
今日、世界の人口は80億人に達し、その数はまだまだ増えています。そして四国霊場の札所の数は88。
こうしたことから、この世に生きとし生けるすべての人々の幸せと安らぎを祈ろう。それがこの法会です。

「この世のすべての苦しみ。それは自分のことばかり考えることから生まれる。この世のすべての幸せ。それは他のためを考えることから生まれる。」
これはお釈迦さまの言葉です。
自分さえよければ、という自己中心的な考え方からはけっして幸せは生まれず、他のためを思い、他のために尽くすなかで幸せが訪れるということです。

当日は四国霊場の青年僧侶が多数出仕し、護摩供も修行されます。
また、この法会に合わせ「菩提心曼荼羅」を特別公開するとともに、法要終了後は内陣参拝が可能です。

これまでにない新しい形の法会です。
ぜひご参加いただき、いっしょに御宝号をお唱えしましょう。

This service is dedicated to chanting the Gohōgō — the sacred title “Namu Daishi Henjō Kongō” — in praise of Kūkai (Kōbō Daishi), whose teachings form an important foundation of Japanese religious and cultural life.
Kōbō Daishi is also revered as the founder of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage.

Why 8.8 billion?
The number reflects both the 88 temples of the Shikoku pilgrimage and the more than 8 billion people now living in our world. Through this collective chanting, we pray for the peace and well-being of all beings.

On the day, many young monks from the Shikoku pilgrimage temples will participate, and a goma fire ritual will be performed. After the service, visitors may enter the inner sanctuary.
