We would like to introduce the official character of Kawasaki Daishi "Hirama-kun". He will appear at various events and places of the temple. The character is designed by Mr. Satoshi Yabuuchi who also designed "Sento-kun", the official character of Nara prefecture created to commemorate the 1300th anniversary of Nara Heijō-kyō, the ancient capital of Japan. Hirama-kun was designed in the motif of the childhood of Mr. Kanenori Hirama who pulled up the wooden statue of the revered figure of Kobo Daishi from the sea and enshrined the statue as the principal object of worship at the temple. At Kawasaki Daishi, we will continue to pray for protection from plague and a perfect state of health until the official end of the outbreak of the Coronavirus. We have decided to pray at the morning rite of burning from today on March 1. We sincerely wish for the early eradication of Coronavirus.

The Buddhist invocation, "Kawasaki Daishi Injo-Nenbutsu / Soban-Nenbutsu" was designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Folk Tradition on February 8. Its folkloric and cultural value has been acknowledged as an important cultural property, and it was designated as a cultural property of folk tradition for the first time in 35 years. At the Shomieku Ceremony on March 20, 21 and 22, the members of Kawasaki Daishi Sobanko will perform the Injo-Nenbutsu invocation.
