Calvary Chapel is a non-denominational Christian church which began in 1965 in Costa Mesa, California. Calvary Chapel’s senior pastor, Chuck Smith became a leading figure in what has become known as the “Jesus Movement.”



From the beginning, Calvary Chapel has been focused on leading people to Christ and discipling th

em so that they can go out into the world and lead others. The Lord has blessed this commitment, and Calvary Chapel has grown to close to 2,000 churches in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. We truly take to heart our Lord’s command in Matthew 28:19-20

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”



Calvary Chapel Iwakuni is a church plant out of Calvary Chapel Okinawa. We are located about 40 km southwest of Hiroshima, in Iwakuni city, just outside Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni. Sensing God’s call to Iwakuni, Mike Silva, a former U.S. Marine Officer and his family left military life and moved to Iwakuni in September 2005. They started a bible study in the living room of their home on November 13, 2005. God, by His Grace, established a church out of that bible study. In September of 2013 Pastor Mike and his family were called to Orlando, Florida and Pastor Glenn Phipps and his family from Calvary Chapel Okinawa moved here to continue the work began through the Silvas.

Calvary Chapel Men,

You all are invited to a Men's Ministry Retreat at Mominoki Forest Park on June 4th-6th. The Retreat will include theme of Watchmen - Awake, Alert, and Anchored, focusing on developing practical, lived out faith. There will be 4 teaching sessions as well as related activities at the Forest Adventure Park and archery sessions.

Lodging and meals (except for Saturday lunch) are included. The price for the retreat will be ¥21,000 or $140.00 per person. The deadline for signing up is May 31st, and that is also the deadline for payment. Payment can be made via cash ($ or ¥) at the church office, or made by Navy Federal transfer We will also have a suggested packing list for you so you know what to take with you.

Please be aware that space is limited so make sure that you sign up as soon as possible.

…and that means it’s time to start planning for our VBS in August!

We are looking for individuals interested in being part of the Decor Team and Drama Team for our 2026 VBS!

If you are 13 years or older and would like to serve on either of these teams, please join us for a quick interest meeting after second service on Sunday, May 17th!

We are excited to see what the Lord will do in the hearts of our kiddos as we make the trip to Ireland and study Psalm 23 all week!

*please note: we are not actually going to Ireland but thanks to the Decor Team it will feel like it*

Tonight is our Young Adults Bible Study at 6:30 PM at the church, and we’d really love to see you there!

This study we’ll be going through James 1:9–18 and spending time talking about humility, trials, temptation, and the goodness of God. There’s so much practical encouragement in this section and it’s something all of us can relate to in one way or another.

If you’ve had a chance to work on the homework awesome! If not, no worries at all—please still come and join us. You won’t be behind and we’d love to have you.

Homework if you’re able:
Read James 1:9–18 and write down
• Observations
• Repeated words or themes
• Questions
• Anything that stands out to you about trials temptation or God’s character

We’ll also share a meal together so come hungry and ready for some good fellowship!

Feel free to invite a friend this is a great place to connect ask questions and grow together in the Word.
