大日寺 04dainichiji―　　四国八十八ヶ所霊場　　　第四番札所　黒巖山遍照院大日寺 弘仁6年(815年)、お大師さまが42歳の時にこの地に長く留まり修行されました。その間に　お大師さまは　大日如来を感得されました。　そこでお大師さまは　一刀三礼をして小さな大日如来像を彫造されたという言い伝えがあります。

「修行大師」The Shugyō Daishi patches have been very well received. Thank you very much for your support. We are currently waiting for the next shipment of this new design to arrive. These patches are available exclusively at Dainichiji, the 4th temple of the pilgrimage. 🙏

Beside the 4th Dainichiji temple, along an old mountain path that long ago likely connected this place to Kagawa pref., stands a small gravestone for a pilgrim who collapsed and died on the road. It is said that we once had a tsuyadō, a shelter where pilgrims could rest overnight. I imagine that this person had crossed over to Shikoku by boat and was perhaps only on the first or second day of the pilgrimage. After finally reaching Shikoku, this place may have become the final destination of their life. I cannot help but feel deep sorrow imagining that perhaps they feared causing trouble for the temple if they died inside the shelter, and so breathed their last a short distance away, within sight of the temple grounds. Though it is only a small gravestone, we will make certain it is never forgotten or buried beneath the passage of time.

We have begun preparing an informational flyer for international pilgrims to be placed at the Pilgrimage Association headquarters in Zentsūji. The staff there have told us that responding to inquiries in English can often be quite challenging. This time, the flyer will focus on those who wish to become an officially recognized Sendatsu pilgrimage guide, mainly explaining the purpose of the role and the application process.Our temple has recommended three non-Japanese pilgrims as officially recognized Sendatsu guides in the past. This year, we will be recommending one more candidate. Completing the pilgrimage four full times is truly an incredible achievement. 🙏　南無大師遍照金剛

Goeika devotional chants were taught extensively during my year at Koyasan, yet despite all those lectures, I never quite overcame my sense of difficulty with them.
In earlier times, the traditional prayers recited during the Shikoku pilgrimage were Goeika, the Mantra of Light (Kōmyō Shingon), and the invocation of Kōbō Daishi. Today, there are even pilgrims who recite the Rishukyō (Sutra of Bliss). I once also met an overseas pilgrim chanting the Heart Sutra in French. I sincerely admire the devotion and attitude with which everyone approaches their prayers.
Today is the 21st—a day to express gratitude for the blessings and teachings of Kōbō Daishi.

20May. since yesterday, daytime temperatures have risen above 30°C. Carrying only one 500ml bottle of mineral water will likely not be enough. I strongly recommend bringing at least one liter of water, or both a 500ml sports drink and water together. Drinking only water may increase the risk of heatstroke. Please remember to replenish minerals and electrolytes as well. ☀️ 南無大師遍照金剛

I carciofi 17May. Good morning. in Rome, Italy, artichokes are commonly enjoyed as an appetizer. In Japan, however, they are now often grown as ornamental flowers, ikebana. My 1st time seeing one. Not so long ago, it was rare to even see artichokes here, even as garden plants. 🌿 Mi chiedo se qui a Tokushima vendano anche carciofi da mangiare. Qualcuno ne sa qualcosa?
