Went to see the Hill of the Buddha in Sapporo! Designed by Tadao Ando
Such a striking structure—a giant Buddha tucked completely into a lavender field, with just its head poking out 😮 I wondered if the statue was cast concrete, but it looks like carved stone. The industrial material pairs amazingly with the vast Hokkaido landscape.
I shot just one of these on my iPhone. Can you tell which one it is?

It is complete! Although all the tatami mats are the exact same color, they are calculated so that light reflection makes the moon shine. The design was inspired by Takanawa being a famous spot for viewing the moon 🌜 When viewed from the opposite side, it transforms into a blue moon!
