シスター・ジャック富山は、2024年11月2日に、96歳で神のもとに旅立った。　　　　
シスターは、「飢餓の島」と呼ばれた時代のフィリピンのネグロス島の子どもの様子を見て、心を痛め、自分の才能を生かした革細工製品を売った収益をもとに奨学金制度を立ち上げて、多くの子どもや青年をサポートした。今は安らかに神のもとで憩っていることだろう。彼女が始めた奨学金は現在も続いている。

The Infant Jesus Sisters in Japan gave a send-off to Sister Jacques Tomiyama who returned to the Lord on November 2, 2024, at the age of 96.
Sr. Jacques truly exemplified the charism of the Infant Jesus Sisters, to respond to the marginalized in a spirit of abandonment and trusting in God.　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　
During a short visit to the island of Negros in the Philippines, she was deeply touched by the plight of children on the island. In spite of her lack of ability to communicate in English, she set up a scholarship system in Negros to help the children and young people. She did this by making leather craft items and selling them. Using the profits, she provided sustenance and education for these children and young people and supported them.
We thank Sister Jacques for her courage and her hard work. And as the Japanese would say to someone who has worked hard, we say “Otsukaresama, Sr Jacques”.

Yellow yuzu, mandarin oranges and golden kumquats will bring colours to the winter garden of Galilee Convent Tokyo.

Praise the Lord for the different seasons.
