礼拝堂前方には、講壇などが置かれる一段高いスペースがあり、そこに洗礼槽が設置されています。 半地下ということもあり、ここの水は自然に下に抜ける構造ではありません。

今回の浸水で、水はこのスペース全体まで覆いました。このスペースの下にも水が入り込み、まだ大量の水が入っている状態です。 洗礼槽の栓を抜くと、そこに水がたまります。その水を外に汲みだす排出作業を続けています。

今回の被災について、被害の状況や復旧に向けた歩み、支援のご案内をまとめた特設ページを、教会ホームページに開設しました。

The front of the sanctuary has a raised platform where the pulpit and other furnishings are placed, and a baptistry is installed there. Because the sanctuary is semi-basement level, water in this area cannot naturally drain away.

During the recent flooding, water covered the entire platform. It also entered the space beneath it, where a large amount of water still remains. When we remove the plug from the baptistry, water flows into it. The work of pumping this water out of the building is still continuing.

We have created a special page on our church website with information about the damage, our steps toward recovery, and ways to support the church.

現在の礼拝の様子です。

今日も、被災を免れた1階に集まり、主日礼拝をささげることができました。

先週から始まった1階での礼拝ですが、礼拝堂にあった十字架を後ろに移し替え、音響機器やプロジェクターも導入するなど、少しずつ礼拝の場として整えられてきています。

小さな子どもからご高齢の方まで、限られたスペースにぎゅうぎゅうになりながら、ともに主を礼拝しました。写真にある約40脚の軽く折りたためる椅子は、ご厚意によってお貸しいただいたものです。本当に感謝です。

しばらくは、この場所で礼拝をささげることになります。不便や窮屈さもありますが、この経験の中で、私たちがさらに一つとされ、主を見上げて歩んでいく良い時としてくださることを信じています。

A glimpse of our current worship service.

Today, we were again able to gather on the first floor, which was spared from the flooding, and worship together.

Since beginning to worship on the first floor last week, we have gradually been preparing it as a place of worship—moving the cross from the sanctuary to the back of the room and bringing in sound equipment and a projector.

From small children to elderly members, we worshiped the Lord together in this limited space, seated very closely together. The approximately 40 lightweight folding chairs seen in the photos have been kindly lent to us. We are truly grateful.

For the time being, we will continue to worship in this space. There are inconveniences and limitations, but we trust that through this experience the Lord will make us more united and lead us to keep looking to Him together.

真砂バプテスト教会は、2026年8月13日から14日にかけての記録的な大雨により、半地下の礼拝堂が床上約60cmまで浸水する大きな被害を受けました。

現在は、排水・洗浄を終え、乾燥と建物の調査を進めています。今後は、礼拝堂をどこまで修復できるのか、また将来的に現在の半地下会堂を使い続けるのかも含め、慎重に検討していく必要があります。

このたび、現時点での被害状況と今後の課題をまとめた「第一報・修正版」を作成しました。

皆さまのお祈りとご支援を、心より感謝いたします。今後の復旧と教会のこれからの歩みについても、皆さまにご報告してまいります。

Masago Baptist Church suffered severe flood damage during the record-breaking heavy rainfall that struck Chiba on August 13–14, 2026. Floodwater rose to approximately 60 centimeters (about 24 inches) above the floor of our semi-basement sanctuary.

The initial pumping and cleaning have been completed, and we are now continuing the drying process and assessing the condition of the building. We will also need to prayerfully consider not only how much of the sanctuary can be restored, but whether continued use of the present semi-basement facility is appropriate for the future.

We have prepared our first English report describing the current situation and the challenges ahead.
