AMMAN — Despite its international recognition, the Baptism Site on the eastern side of the Jordan River receives “way fewer” visitors than the one located in the occupied West Bank, experts said.

We are in the process of establishing a non-profit association to promote religious tourism to the Baptism Site in Jordan.

The mission of this association is not to fund Baptism site projects but to act as an owner’s representative to guide the master planning, design, construction and promotion of its projects. The association's goal is to assist, advise and coordinate all Baptism site projects regardless of their denomination.

The Baptism of Jesus and the descending of the Spirit of God marks the birth of Christianity and the inauguration of His public ministry. This has been overlooked for many decades.

We believe that visiting the baptism site should be a life-changing spiritual awakening journey where Christians can wash their sins and fears through a highly personal religious process that gradually takes them back to the birth of Christianity, the Baptism of the Jesus.

To achieve this holy mission, the association will work with local churches to guide the completion of the following:

1. An archaeological assessment of existing landmarks and ancient church sites buried underground.

2. Development of a Baptism Site master plan from a religious stand point emphasizing on the spiritual journey of pilgrims to the Holy Site that celebrates the story and promotes baptism of Christians at the site.

3. Creation of an International Movement to guide Christians across the world to value the significance of the Holy Baptism site and take part in its spiritual awakening journey.

If we are successful in this mission, the association through the expertise and power of its members and the support of local churches in the area will act as the design and construction steering committee for the Holy Site.

We are carefully selecting the members of this association. We are looking for individuals who are very passionate about this initiative and willing to contribute a few hours a week to its mission.
