Archbishop of Constantinople San Flaviano. was used as a resting place for pilgrims on the route to Assisi. The wish to offer a P
ilgrimage was born aimed at fulfilling the new spiritual requirement. Differently from the past, it is an mediation of “movement” where the pilgrim wants to explore through original experiences just how to open himself to the compassion of that Love “that moves the sun and the other stars”. Apparently the purpose of the pilgrim is to walk to Assisi, but in reality “he advances towards himself” to join the Divine within. The frescos over and around the alter area are from the 15C and have be restored where possible. There are beautiful watercolors of San Flaviano and St Francis of Assisi along with cherubs and angels. Over the next 700 years as the parishioners grew and funds became available it was enlarged in for the local Catholic parish church servicing the community until closing in 1972 when it was de consecrated. It has reopened it’s door in 2014 as an non-denominational spiritual centre servicing those who also want to take the pilgrimage to their essential selves through a physical, emotional and spiritual pilgrimage. The rest of the beautiful white stone 120M2 building was most certainly a monastery and has been newly renovated. It includes a living room/dining room with fireplace, a professional chef’s kitchen and 4 double bedrooms each with their own en suite private bathroom. Another interesting element is that the 4 bedrooms are each off the stone portico so in fact to go from the bedroom to the living room one actually has to “go outside” under the portico. The portico in front of the bedrooms looks out onto the lush green hills. The church has had a 85M2 Oak beamed mezzanine added with luxury bathrooms, kitchen, open plan living and sleeping area for individuals or groups. The kitchen … professional equipment, granite surface, ready for large groups.. The surrounding plot on a hill top is approximately a hectare from which one enjoys peaceful views of the countryside. The property is located on a wonderfully panoramic highland with great views and a lovely wooded surround, the woods are primarily precious oak wood. Testimonials

"I was blessed recently to have been part of the first group of visitors to this amazing place in the hills of Umbria, Italy. Tess Hunneybell & her husband Kevin had invited me last fall, and I was eager to accept. I had met Tess last May at a course in Happiness in California, and even though we only had a couple very brief conversations, she considered me "friends & family." That's the kind of loving and generous people Tess and Kevin are - they see the best in people and pulled together a random group of strangers and after five days in retreat I feel like we really are all "friends & family." Tess & Kevin met our group in their little village and guided us up the mountain to their home. The roads are windy and the scenery breathtaking. We were greeted by Hunney & Raul, two of the friendliest dogs I've ever met. And I finally got to see San Flaviano. To Tess's dismay - the workman had left a few things undone and lots of dust. As often happens, construction was a bit behind schedule. But it was fun to pitch in and help sweep and mop the dust from this amazing eleventh century Franciscan chapel. It was like watching it come alive for the first time in years. There was a beautiful candlelight ceremony that we all participated in, followed by a wonderful meal prepared by one of the guests and shared by all. It was truly special to be a part of this. I would highly recommend San Flaviano to anyone privileged enough to get an invitation. The location is secluded and beautiful, but day trips into the surrounding towns are easy and fun. The rooms are clean and simple, and the bedding luxurious. Fresh food prepared with love and eaten outdoors is good for your body & soul.
