ST. GREGORY THE GREAT, POPE AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH 🙏📖

Gregory left his office as prefect of Rome to become a monk, only to be elected Pope in the midst of famine and plague. This Pope, who was declared a saint and “the Great” by popular acclaim, is one of the four great Latin doctors of the Church. His feast day is September 3.

From August 28 to September 2, the pilgrimage to Paray-le-Monial was a special time of encounter with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, gratitude for the gift of vocation, and renewal of the “yes” given to God. ❤️🙏

Shared by the Sisters celebrating 10 years of perpetual vows and by some Sisters celebrating their Religious Life Jubilee, this experience was marked by prayer, fraternity, and renewal of their consecration.

⛪ Among the special moments were celebrations at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Chapel of the Apparitions, as well as a visit to Annecy and the Basilica of the Visitation.

Each place, each celebration, and each encounter became an opportunity to thank God for the gift of vocation and for the years of consecrated life dedicated to the mission.

May this experience continue to strengthen in each Sister the joy of her “yes” and the desire to make the Heart of Jesus known and loved. ❤️✨

11th WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE CARE OF CREATION: “They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks” (Isaiah 2:4). 🌿🕊️

On this World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, we are called to renew our commitment to peace, to life, and to the care of our Common Home.

🌎💚 As Pope Leo XIV reminds us, “peace begins in the heart” and is revealed in our relationships, our communities, and our care for the world around us.

May our hearts be renewed so that we may journey “from the desert to the garden, from division to communion, and from violence to peace.” 🙏

XI GIORNATA MONDIALE DI PREGHIERA PER LA CURA DEL CREATO: «Spezzeranno le loro spade per farne aratri e le loro lance per farne falci» (Is 2,4). 🌿🕊️

In questa Giornata Mondiale di Preghiera per la Cura del Creato, siamo chiamati a rinnovare il nostro impegno per la pace, per la vita e per la cura della nostra Casa Comune.

🌎💚 Come ci ricorda Papa Leone XIV, «la pace comincia nel cuore» e si manifesta nelle nostre relazioni, nelle nostre comunità e nella cura del mondo che ci circonda.

Che i nostri cuori siano rinnovati, perché possiamo passare «dal deserto al giardino, dalla divisione alla comunione e dalla violenza alla pace». 🙏

THE MARTYRDOM OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST 🙏🌿

Today, 29 August, Christian tradition commemorates the martyrdom of St John the Baptist; the Messiah himself says in praise of him: "none born of woman is greater" (cf. Lk 7: 28). He gave to God the supreme witness of his blood, sacrificing his life for truth and justice; indeed, his head was cut off at the orders of Herod, whom he had dared to tell that it was not lawful to take his brother's wife (cf. Quest’oggi, 29 agosto, la tradizione cristiana fa memoria del martirio di San Giovanni Battista, "il più grande fra i nati di donna", secondo l’elogio del Messia stesso (cfr Lc 7, 28). Egli rese a Dio la suprema testimonianza del sangue immolando la sua esistenza per la verità e la giustizia; fu infatti decapitato per ordine di Erode, al quale aveva osato dire che non gli era lecito tenere la moglie di suo fratello (cfr Mt 6, 17 – 29). ST. AUGUSTINE, BISHOP OF HYPPO AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH 🙏📖

St. Augustine of Hippo, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, was an indefatigable truth-seeker. The author of hundreds of books, tracts, treatises and letters. He was born in Thagaste on November 13, AD 354, and died in the city of Hippo (present-day Annaba in Algeria), on August 28, AD 430.

Inquieto ricercatore della Verità, la vicenda del suo cammino di conversione lo rende sempre attuale. Autore tra l'altro de "Le Confessioni", è tra i Padri della Chiesa che hanno meglio spiegato principi e dogmi del Cristianesimo. Vescovo di Ippona, muore il 28 agosto del 430.

Mother of Saint Augustine of Hippo, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, Saint Monica was a woman of profound faith. Fervently observant of the traditions of the Catholic Church, she faced the most difficult moments by placing every hope in God. Her liturgical memory recurs each year on August 27.

ST. BARTHOLOMEW, APOSTLE 🙏⛪

Bartholomew was one of the Twelve Apostles who accompany Jesus, from his Baptism to the Jordan and his death on the Cross and much more. The news we have about him comes from the Gospels: he was a fisherman from Cana and, at the beginning, he was very skeptical. He evangelized India and was martyred in Armenia.

Bartolomeo o Natanaele è uno dei Dodici Apostoli che accompagnano Gesù dal battesimo al Giordano fino alla morte in Croce e anche oltre. Quello che sappiamo di lui viene dai Vangeli: è un pescatore di Cana, inizialmente scettico. Evangelizzerà l’India e morirà martire in Armenia.
