On 31 May, the faithful of Kalunga Parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rourkela gathered in a spirit of prayer and devotion to honor Mother of Perpetual Help as they concluded the Marian month of May. The celebration brought together clergy, religious, and parishioners, reflecting the parish’s deep love and reverence for the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The solemn occasion began with a prayerful procession carrying the Icon of Mother of Perpetual Help. Clergy, religious sisters, and members of the faithful participated with great enthusiasm and devotion, singing Marian hymns and offering prayers as they processed to the church. The procession served as a public expression of faith and gratitude for Mary's maternal care and intercession throughout the month dedicated to her.
Following the procession, the Holy Mass was celebrated, during which the congregation thanked God for the blessings received through Mary's intercession and renewed their commitment to living the Gospel. The liturgy was marked by active participation, heartfelt prayers, and a strong sense of community.
Adding to the joy and solemnity of the celebration were devotional dances performed in honor of the Blessed Mother. Through graceful movements, music, and cultural expression, the performers paid tribute to Mary, inspiring the faithful to deepen their devotion and appreciation for her role in the life of the Church.
The celebration concluded with a fellowship gathering, providing an opportunity for parishioners, clergy, and religious to share moments of friendship and unity. The gathering strengthened the bonds within the parish community and brought the Marian month to a joyful and meaningful close.
The event was a beautiful testimony to the faith of the people of Kalunga Parish, who came together to honor Mother of Perpetual Help and seek her continued guidance, protection, and intercession for their families, the parish, and the wider Church.
