🌎From June 3rd to 7th, the International Justice and Peace Promoters and the DSIC Coordinating Council are convening in Rome, Italy. The purpose of this meeting is to enhance communication and strategic collaboration between JPIC Promoters and Continental Coordinators, ensuring that advocacy for justice and peace is fully integrated into the lives and ministry of Dominican women globally.

June 5th marked a dedicated formation day, guided by two Sisters with a rich history of leadership in Justice and Peace advocacy.
Sr. Sheila Kinsey, FCJM led the morning workshop, focused on defining priorities and to determine "what is ours to do". Sr. Toni Harris, OP facilitated the afternoon session, anchoring the work of Justice and Peace within the core of the Dominican charism.

The DSIC Leadership Development Programme recently wrapped up its intensive modules!
Facilitated by Faith & Praxis, this global initiative brought together 120 sisters to embrace a collaborative, synodal leadership style.
Four participants of the Programme, Sisters: Loretta Arohikeni (Dominican Sisters of Eastern Australia & the Solomon Islands), Beth Murphy (Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois), Maria José Brito (Ilanz Dominican Sisters, St. Joseph Institute) and Linda Korie (Dominican Sisters of Blessed Imelda) shared how the Programme impacted them and the way they show up in their ministries.

Today, we gathered on Zoom to hear first-hand experiences from the recent Fossil Fuel Phase-Out Conference in Santa Marta, Colombia. The event was facilitated by Sr. Ann Pratt, our United Nations Representative, who guided a conversation on how faith communities can drive real climate action.

Our first speaker, Lisa Sullivan from the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns, shared the incredible backstory of the Santa Marta conference. Organized by just two countries with no official budget, the event was built entirely on grassroots solidarity. Lisa highlighted how various faith groups united to launch a joint statement, noting that fossil fuel entities thrive when we are divided. Ultimately, she reminded us that climate change is not just a technical problem, but a profound moral and human crisis.

Fr. Rohan Dominic, coordinator of the Claretian NGO at UN, took us behind the scenes to discuss the conference's key disussion points, tensions, next steps, and broader agenda. He challenged us to look at what faith-based organizations can do next, reminding us that we must serve as the conscience of this movement.

Thank you to all who joined us today!
