A step in the right direction. The issue with modernism began long before Trent, when the Roman Church discarded its venerable tradition in favor of "fitting in" the locals by using Latin.

When the Divine Services were translated from the universal liturgical language into vernaculars like Latin, a lot of the theological nuances are lost. The word, "ecclesia," for instance, simply has no equivalent in Latin. Even the arch-modernist Jerome, whose hatred of the Sacred Tongue made him to vernacularize the Scriptures, could not coin an equivalent. Why give up the majesty and the accuracy of the Greek language for an underdeveloped pagan tongue like Latin?

The Catholic faith is "the faith once delivered to the saints." The use of vernacular such as Latin is fundamentally alien to the spirituality and practices of our saints. St. Justin Martyr, who was amongst the first to wrote about the liturgy, wrote in Greek. St. Irenaeous, who ministered to the Gauls, likewise wrote and prayed in the sacred language: Greek. Switching to Latin is a drastic departure from apostolic tradition and the prayers that had inspired so many saints and martyrs. It replaced the sacred with the profane, and the language of Christ with the language of Caesar.

The Holy Scriptures
Since the early days of the Church, the official Scriptures had always been read and understood in it's original language: Greek. No vernacular languages, such as Latin, can fully translate the nuance that is found in the Greek manuscripts. Is it of any surprises that when Jerome translated the Scriptures into vernacular ("Vulgate") that heresies based on private interpretations begin to rise?

Private confession is another one of the modernist abuses that crept into the church following the abandonment of Traditional Greek Liturgy (TGL). The traditional practice of public confession and penance had all but disappeared. How can the faithful have true repentance without public acknowledgement?

The use of vernacular language, such as Latin, takes away from the dignity and solemnity of the liturgy. The Church has but one universal language: Greek.

The crisis in the Church has been exacerbated ever since the heretical innovations introduced by "Pope" Victor. We need to return to the authentic liturgy celebrated by the apostles themselves.
