Harry (1st Year Seminarian) and Fr Richard (Acting Rector) were interviewed by BBC News on Sunday following the Angelus led by Pope Leo XIV after his operation last week. We continue to pray for the Pope's recovery.

A great joy to welcome people (and even a couple of dogs…) to our Church over the weekend for our Night of Light. Together with churches across the parish of San Lorenzo in Damaso we opened our doors and invited people in for a moment of prayer and adoration. Thank you to everyone who visited.

Congratulations and assurance of prayers to Bishop Timothy Menezes, a former seminarian of the VEC, who has been appointed today by Pope Leo XIV as Bishop of Brentwood. Ad multos annos!

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has today, 10 October, appointed Bishop Timothy Menezes as the new Bishop of Brentwood.

Bishop Timothy, until now an Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Birmingham, succeeds Bishop Alan Williams, S.M., whose resignation has been accepted by the Holy Father having turned 75 years old on 15 March 2026. [Link in Bio]

In the final part of our pilgrimage to France, we spent three nights in Ars, including Mass at the shrine of St John Mary Vianney, and a quiet "desert day" for the community. We then went to Annecy and to the tombs of St Francis de Sales and St Jane Frances de Chantal, before returning to Rome. Please pray for the seminarians and student priests as they continue through their first week of the new academic term.

In the second part of our pilgrimage we have been to Nevers, to visit the tomb of St Bernadette. We then spent a night in Paray-le-Monial, the place where Our Lord entrusted the spreading of the Sacred Heart devotion to St Margaret Mary Alacoque. We also prayed at the Tomb of St Claude de la Colombiere. The next stop was the Abbey of Cluny, before we arrived in Ars for the final stage of the pilgrimage.
