Many congratulations to the six new deacons from The Pontifical Beda College and the Pontifical Scots College, Rome who were ordained by Cardinal Harvey at St Paul's Outside the Walls yesterday morning. Ad multos annos!

Fr Tony Simon was with us last night and gave his first blessing to everyone straight after Mass. He was ordained in May for the Catholic Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain, after this time of formation in Rome at the Capranica College. He was been a great friend to us at the VEC. We wish him well as he returns home for full-time ministry.

There was a celebration for King Charles's birthday last week at the Knights of Malta Casa dei Cavalieri di Rodi which overlooks the ancient Roman Forum. It was another opportunity to thank the retiring British Ambassador to the Holy See, Ambassador Chris Trott, for his wonderful work in Rome over the last five years.

It was a very happy day for our neighbours the Bridgettine Sisters on Friday, as they celebrated the tenth anniversary of canonisation of their foundress St Elizabeth Hesselblad. Mass was celebrated by Cardinal Baldassare Reina.

We had a beautiful Eucharistic procession for Corpus Christi yesterday after Mass: from the church, through the garden, and finishing with Benediction in the Martyrs' Chapel.

We have an exhibition in the main corridor of two volumes of the Complete Works of St Augustine that were recently donated to the College. These texts from 1664 are a precious addition to our Rare Books Library.

We are very proud of our connections with the Diocese of Oslo. Sr Valentina is seen here visiting Andre last week (on the right), who is on extended placement as part of his Pastoral Theology Year. Fr Mathias (second from the right) did his priestly formation with us at the VEC, and Fr Pål Bratbak - parish priest in Stavanger - is a great friend of the College from the time of his post-graduate studies here in Rome.

Football has been a big part of the programme this year, usually at The Pontifical Beda College on Tuesday evenings, and often with testimonial appearances from visiting clergy!
