A Church walking with the poor

The Church is most faithful to the Heart of Jesus when she walks beside the poor not above them, not ahead of them, but with them. To walk with the poor is to share life, listen deeply, and allow their struggles and hopes to shape our pastoral choices. A Church that walks humbly becomes a sign of God’s closeness in a wounded world.

take action
Hold a workshop on simple lifestyle and solidarity, inviting participants to reflect on how personal and communal choices can better align with the needs of the poor and the cry of the earth. Visible Outcome: Create a community plan that adopts one concrete JPIC concern for the year such as food insecurity, ecological care, migrant accompaniment, or support for vulnerable families.

Profesión de Votos Religiosos en el Teologado Internacional MSC en El Salvador

El 6 de agosto, Fiesta de la Transfiguración del Señor, el Teologado Internacional MSC en San Salvador celebró con gran alegría la primera profesión de un miembro de la Provincia de Centroamérica y México, la profesión perpetua de un miembro de la Provincia de República Dominicana y la renovación de votos de siete jóvenes religiosos MSC. La celebración fue una gozosa expresión de su compromiso con la vida religiosa y un signo de esperanza para la misión continua de los Misioneros del Sagrado Corazón.

Profession of Religious Vows at the MSC International Theologate in El Salvador

On 6 August, the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the MSC International Theologate in San Salvador joyfully celebrated the first profession of a member of the Central America and Mexico Province, the perpetual profession of a member of the Dominican Republic Province, and the renewal of vows by seven young MSC religious. The celebration was a joyful expression of their commitment to religious life and a sign of hope for the continuing mission of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

Veneration of the Relics of St Peter To Rot at MSC Korea

The Korea MSC Province celebrated the veneration of the relics of St Peter To Rot, the first saint of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and Papua New Guinea’s first indigenous saint, during a special Mass on his feast day, 7 July. Presided over by Provincial Superior Fr Damaso Hyun-chul Shin, MSC, the celebration brought together priests, religious, and lay members of the Chevalier Family, renewing their shared commitment to missionary discipleship inspired by the Spirituality of the Heart.

Mercy as a way of life

Mercy is not an occasional gesture, it is a way of life. It is worship expressed through action, where love for God becomes tangible in love for neighbor. When mercy shapes our choices, our relationships, and our priorities, we begin to reflect the Heart of Jesus, who never separates prayer from compassion.

take action
Invite each member of the community to choose one concrete aet of mercy each week a visit, a phone call, a gesture of forgiveness, a meal shared, or a word of encouragement. Visible Outcome: At the end of the month, gather and share stories of reconciliation, kindness, and unexpected grace. These testimonies become signs of God’s mercy alive in the community.

150th Anniversary of the MSC Mission in Watertown, USA

The Parish of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Watertown, New York, USA, celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) mission (1876–2026). Guided by the theme, “Mission: To Be on Earth the Heart of God,” the celebration began with a solemn Eucharist presided over by Bishop Terry LaValley and concelebrated by Superior General Fr. Abzalon Alvarado, MSC, Provincial Superior Fr. Michael Miller, MSC, and fellow priests. Four MSC brothers were also present at the celebration of the 150 years: Brothers Bernard Mongeau, Joachim Vetenge, Hung Nguyen, and Warren Perrotto.

The celebration continued with a thanksgiving reception, bringing together parishioners, confreres, and guests to give thanks for 150 years of faithful missionary witness and service.

La paroisse Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur de Watertown, dans l’État de New York, aux États-Unis, a célébré le 150e anniversaire de la mission des Missionnaires du Sacré-Cœur (MSC) (1876-2026). Placée sous le thème « Mission : être sur terre le Cœur de Dieu », la célébration a débuté par une eucharistie solennelle présidée par Mgr Terry LaValley et concélébrée par le Supérieur général, le P. Abzalon Alvarado, MSC, le Supérieur provincial, le P. Michael Miller, MSC, ainsi que d’autres prêtres.
