Listening to the cry of the poor

God not only sees the suffering of the poor, God hears it. Their cry rises like prayer, and the Heart of Jesus bends toward it with compassion. For us, listening is not passive; it is the first act of justice. When we listen deeply, without judgment or hurry, we allow the voices of the poor to shape our priorities, our mission, and our choices.

Organize a listening circle with migrants, workers, or vulnerable families. Create a safe, respectful space where people can speak freely about their struggles, hopes, and needs. Visible Outcome: Prepare a short, clear report summarizing the real needs voiced by the community. This becomes the foundation for future JPIC actions rooted in lived experience.

GENERAL SUPERIOR'S VISIT TO NAURU
Our General Superior Fr. Abzalon Tovar, MSC, visited the country of Nauru from May 18-21. During the duration of his stay he managed to visit some families, the parish community, the school board and the government officials of Nauru.

● Monday, 18th of May: He set foot in Nauru and was welcomed by the Parish Priest Fr. Johnny Arnold, MSC, government ministers, parish leaders, and youth representatives.
● Tuesday, 19th of May: Visited the family of Br. Julson Ribauw, MSC, followed by an evening Mass at Christ the King Church and a community welcoming dinner.
● Wednesday, 20th of May: Shared breakfast with the Parish Executive, toured the Sacred Heart College (the only Catholic school), and enjoyed lunch with the School Board.
● Thursday, 21st of May: Met with the President of Nauru David Adaeng and celebrated his final Mass before departing that evening.
A heartfelt gratitude goes to Fr. Abzalon for his inspiring presence, and to the people of Nauru who have made him feel so at home. Please keep him in your prayers! Ametur!🙏
