👉 Swipe to see how we fight human trafficking around the world 🌏

During the month of July and leading up to the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2026, the Talitha K*m networks took action to raise awareness and engage all types of individuals, from the most vulnerable to the decision-makers.

We rallied and spread information in public spaces, schools, parishes, government offices, on social media, on TV and the radio. We held training sessions, webinars, panels and focus group discussions with the youth, with migrants, with people in situations of homelessness and prostitution.

Through collective global action, we are building a united front to prevent trafficking and empower those most at risk 🖐🏽

“Now I can earn money without leaving my children. It’s a small change, but for me, it’s a big freedom.”

With 80% of detected trafficking victims in East Asia and the Pacific being women and girls (UNODC, 2024), supporting local livelihoods is a crucial way to protect communities.

The Changing Face of Trafficking in Europe. 🌍

Driven by ongoing war and mass displacement, exploitation has shifted away from highly visible criminal networks toward fragmented, opportunistic systems that are deeply embedded in everyday life.

The stories of Nasrin, Olena, and Yusuf are fictional composites drawn from documented patterns and survivor testimonies. The names have been changed. The situations have not.

Founded in 2009 within the UISG, Talitha K*m is the international network of consecrated life against human trafficking. Its name comes from the Aramaic words of Jesus in the Gospel of Mark (5:41), spoken to a young girl who appeared to be dead: "Little girl, I say to you, arise!"

These words define our mission: to restore hope, dignity and life, and to weave networks of care and protection wherever they are needed. We believe that transformation is possible even in the darkest situations. The voice of Jesus always whispers, "Rise Up, for life is sacred."

“Our vocation has a much deeper meaning – at its heart, it’s surrender.”

In her keynote address at the online launch of the Talitha K*m Annual Report 2025, Sr. Nina Krapić (Holy See Press Office) reflected on the unique role of consecrated life in standing with those often left behind. She emphasized that in an increasingly divided world, witnessing unity and communion for the common good is more needed than ever.
