EVENT | 👥 CCEE–CEC Joint Committee to meet in Frankfurt 🇩🇪

💡The annual meeting of the CCEE–CEC Joint Committee will take place in Frankfurt am Main from 9 to 11 September 2026.

👉 The discussions will focus on the Charta Oecumenica, its reception process and synodality across the various Christian traditions. Representatives of the Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican Churches will also share their experiences and perspectives on synodality. The programme will conclude with a meeting with the leadership of the Protestant Church of Hesse and Nassau.

The Committee brings together representatives of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE) and the Conference of European Churches (CEC) to promote ecumenical dialogue and cooperation among the Churches in Europe.

EVENTO | 👥 Il Comitato Congiunto CCEE–CEC si riunirà a Francoforte 🇩🇪

💡 Dal 9 all’11 settembre 2026 si terrà a Francoforte sul Meno l’incontro annuale del Comitato Congiunto CCEE–CEC.

👉 I lavori saranno dedicati alla Charta Oecumenica, al suo processo di ricezione e alla sinodalità nelle diverse tradizioni cristiane. Rappresentanti delle Chiese cattolica, protestante, ortodossa e anglicana condivideranno esperienze e prospettive sulla sinodalità. Il programma si concluderà con un incontro con la leadership della Chiesa protestante di Assia e Nassau.

Il Comitato riunisce i rappresentanti del Consiglio delle Conferenze Episcopali d’Europa (CCEE) e della Conferenza delle Chiese Europee (CEC) per promuovere il dialogo ecumenico e la collaborazione tra le Chiese in Europa.

PRESIDENCY | ❗️Pope Leo XIV today appointed eight new members to the Council for the Economy. Among them is H.Em. Msgr. Ladislav Nemet SVD, Vice-President of CCEE. 👏 The Council supervises the administrative and financial structures and activities of the Roman Curia and the institutions connected with the Holy See.

SAINTS | 📆 Today, 9 August, is the feast day of Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein), martyr and co-patroness of Europe.

😇 Edith Stein was a German philosopher of Jewish origin who converted to Catholicism and became a Discalced Carmelite nun. She was murdered in a gas chamber at Auschwitz concentration camp on 9 August 1942. 🙏

😇 Edith Stein era una filosofa tedesca di origine ebraica che si convertì al cattolicesimo e divenne una suora carmelitana scalza. Fu uccisa in una camera a gas nel campo di concentramento di Auschwitz il 9 agosto 1942. 🙏

SALZBURG | 🇦🇹 CCEE General Secretary Msgr. Antonio Ammirati and Vice General Secretary Rev. Charbel Bteich met in Salzburg today with H.E. Msgr. Franz Lackner, OFM, Archbishop of Salzburg, President of the Austrian Bishops’ Conference, and his team.

🤝 The reason is simple: Salzburg will host the CCEE Plenary Assembly on 27–30 October, bringing together the Presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences of the whole Europe. 🌍

💪 Good preparation is the key to the success of this important meeting.

SALISBURGO | 🇦🇹 Il Segretario Generale del CCEE, Mons. Antonio Ammirati, e il Vice Segretario Generale, don Charbel Bteich, hanno incontrato oggi a Salisburgo S.E. Mons. Franz Lackner, OFM, Arcivescovo di Salisburgo, Presidente della Conferenza Episcopale Austriaca, e il suo team.

🤝 Il motivo è semplice: dal 27 al 30 ottobre Salisburgo ospiterà l’Assemblea Plenaria del CCEE, che riunirà i Presidenti delle Conferenze Episcopali da tutta Europa. 🌍

💪 Una buona preparazione è la chiave per un buon esito di questo importante incontro.

HOLY FATHER |🙏 Audience of Pope Leo XIV with the Presidency of the CCEE and the Presidents of the Commissions | 📆 25 June

👉 During the meeting, the Holy Father was presented with the recent activities of the CCEE, the initiatives of its Commissions and Sections, and the main projects planned for the coming months, including the Plenary Assembly of the Presidents of the Bishops' Conferences in Salzburg in October.

💡The audience offered an opportunity to reflect together on evangelization, synodality, mission, young people, vocations and priestly formation in Europe. Pope Leo XIV encouraged the CCEE to continue fostering communion among the Bishops' Conferences of Europe and serving the Church on the continent.

🏅 During the audience, the President of the CCEE, H.E. Msgr. Gintaras Grušas, presented the Holy Father with the CCEE Medal depicting the Patron Saints of Europe.

SANTO PADRE |🙏 Udienza di Papa Leone XIV con la Presidenza del CCEE e i Presidenti delle Commissioni | 📆 25 giugno

👉 Nel corso dell'incontro sono state presentate al Santo Padre le attività del CCEE, le iniziative delle Commissioni e delle rispettive Sezioni, insieme ai principali appuntamenti dei prossimi mesi, tra cui l'Assemblea Plenaria dei Presidenti delle Conferenze Episcopali che si terrà a Salisburgo in ottobre.

💡 L'udienza è stata anche un'occasione per riflettere insieme sull'evangelizzazione, la sinodalità, la missione, i giovani, le vocazioni e la formazione sacerdotale in Europa. Papa Leone XIV ha incoraggiato il CCEE a proseguire il suo servizio di comunione tra le Conferenze Episcopali d'Europa e al servizio della Chiesa nel continente.

🏅Nel corso dell'udienza, il Presidente del CCEE, S.E. Mons. Gintaras Grušas, ha consegnato al Santo Padre la Medaglia del CCEE raffigurante i Santi Patroni d'Europa.
