As we celebrate our community in heaven increasing in numbers we also rejoice and celebrate our Sisters in our Communities in Kenya and Ireland growing in numbers.

Please join us in praying for the following:

Eight Sisters in the Novitiate preparing to make commitment of First Vows on 15th of August in Mwingi Parish, Diocese of Kitui.

Three Sisters undergoing their Tertianship year in Sirende, Kitale Diocese and preparing to make commitment of Final Vows on 12th September in Mwingi Parish, Diocese of Kitui.

One Sister in Ireland is undergoing preparations to make Final Vows in the year ahead.

We ask the intercession of Venerable Mother Magdalen for each Sister that she will have a lifetime of great happiness and fullment as a Poor Servant of the Mother of God and dedicated to the service of the poor of Jesus Christ.

SMG Sisters are sad to announce the recent deaths of two wonderful Sisters.

Sr. Lua Griffin from Dungourney, Co. Cork who died in St. Gabriel's Nursing Home , Dublin who was in her 101st year. She was laid to rest in Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin yesterday. Sr. Lua was a nurse and worked for many years in Providence Hospital, St. Helens, Lancashire, in St. Coleman's Nursing Home, Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow, Maryfield Nursing Home, Chapelizod Dublin and St. Gabriel's Nursing Home.

Sr. Genevieve Devenney from Belfast who died in Maryville Care Home, Brentford who was in her 100th year. Sr. Genevieve's Requiem Mass and funeral will take place on Tuesday 14th July.
Sr. Genevieve was a Primary School Teacher. She worked in Schools in Portslade, Sussex, in Our Lady Queen of Heaven School, Wandsworth and in schools in the Kingston area. After retirement she spent many years supporting the work of St. Gabriel's Hostel, Pembridge Square, London.

We extend our sympathy, prayers and love to the families and communities of both Sisters.

Today, 1st July, we celebrate the feast day of Saint Oliver Plunket who was canonised in 1975 - becoming the first new Irish saint for almost 700 years. He is known as the Patron of Peace and Reconciliation in Ireland.

Let us ask his intercession today for peace and reconciliation in the many parts of the world in conflict and at war just now.

We remember especially the suffering people in Venezuela who are experiencing such dreadful trauma and heart break as they struggle to find survivors of the earthquake in these crucial hours and days.

'God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission'.

Mother Magdalen was the first to publish his creation of the 'Dream of Gerontius' in the magazine 'The Month'.

Reflect: Each of us has a mission in this world. Find a quiet moment to ask yourself: How am I taking part in God's mission and how can I share my gifts and blessings?
