From 8 to 18 June, Bonn, Germany, is bringing together government representatives, civil society organisations, and international institutions for the annual UN June Climate Meetings, formally known as the 64th Session of the Subsidiary Bodies of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (SB64).
This gathering represents a crucial step in shaping the agenda for the upcoming climate summit (COP31), which will take place this November in Antalya, Tรผrkiye, while advancing immediate action amid the escalating impacts of global warming.
In this context, and as part of the โJesuits for Climate Justiceโ campaign, the Society of Jesus, through the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat, continues to accompany this process through advocacy, reflection, and prayer. As part of this effort, a Jesuit team is currently in Bonn, closely following the negotiations and sharing updates and key insights.
Today, on our first day of coverage, we focus our prayer on a profound social injustice: food waste, a reality that takes bread from the tables of the poorest. We begin this day in prayer, asking for the grace to cultivate gratitude and solidarity with those who suffer from hunger.
We invite you to follow our ongoing coverage through our social media channels and to subscribe to our special newsletter at sjesjesuits.global to receive the latest updates. Let us accompany this important moment through prayer and a renewed commitment to climate justice.
