Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul
June 29
Matthew 16:13-19
- Ang Ebanghelyo sa ating Buhay
"...I will build my Church..."
Mga Bes, today we celebrate the life of the two remarkable Saints in our Church: Saint Peter and St. Paul. One was called as the Apostle to the Jews, the other was called as the Apostle to the Gentiles. The Rock (Petrus) of God and the Humble (Paulus) of God.
Both were great figures and contributors to what we have now as a church and above all, by making Jesus Christ known to all. The appropriate title given to these two as what their lives reflected, is the title of an Apostle of Jesus Christ.
What is to be an Apostle of Jesus Christ?
+ Faith in Jesus Christ.
+ Experience the fullness of life with God beginning in a profound conversion experience. From old self to a new being in God.
+ Chosen by God in a mission. Being sent by God. An ambassador of Christ. This mission is not just an ordinary sending. God installed his apostles to be the foundation of His community and church.
Jesus said in the gospel, "I will build my church." He built His church through the apostles.
We are great in the eyes of God not only because we have achieve or done something for Him. We are great because of our strong faith in Him that bears the fruits of witnessing and goid works.
