TOPIC:TRUSTING GOD’S DIRECTION FOR YOUR LIFE.
Text: Book of Proverbs 3:6–8
Introduction
Life is full of decisions:
Family decisions
Financial decisions
Ministry decisions
Career decisions
Spiritual decisions
Many people struggle because they depend only on:
Human wisdom
Emotions
Experience
Public opinion
But Proverbs 3 teaches believers how to live under divine
direction.
This passage reveals:
1. How to receive God’s guidance
2. What hinders divine direction
3. The blessings of trusting God
God never intended His children to walk blindly through
life.
Understanding the Context
The book of Proverbs was written mainly by Solomon, a
king known for wisdom.
These verses are part of fatherly instruction teaching
believers how to live wisely before God.
The passage is connected to Proverbs 3:5:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding.”
Verses 6–8 explain what that trust looks like practically.
1. “In All Thy Ways Acknowledge Him” (Verse 6)
What Does It Mean to Acknowledge God?
To acknowledge God means:
To recognize Him
To consult Him
To submit to Him
To honor Him in every area of life
Not partially. Not occasionally. But “in all thy ways.”
Areas Where We Must Acknowledge God
A. In Family Life
Some people involve God in church but ignore Him at
home.
God cares about:
Marriage
Parenting
Relationships
Family peace
Joshua 24:15
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
B. In Financial Matters
Many people pray for money but never ask God how to
manage it.
Acknowledging God means:
Honoring Him with giving
Avoiding dishonest gain
Seeking wisdom before spending
Illustration
A man earned more money than before, yet became more
troubled because prosperity without God became a
burden instead of a blessing.
Money without divine direction can destroy people.
C. In Ministry and Calling
Even good intentions fail when God is not leading.
Psalm 127:1
Church programs, plans, and projects must be guided by
God.
D. In Daily Decisions
God cares about:
Where you go
Who you associate with
What you pursue
What influences you
Some mistakes could be avoided if people prayed before
acting.
Illustration: The GPS
A GPS only helps when:
1. It is consulted
2. The directions are followed
Many believers ask God for direction but continue
following their own plans.
Divine guidance requires obedience.
2. “And He Shall Direct Thy Paths”
This is a promise.
When believers trust and acknowledge God:
He guides
He orders steps
He opens doors
He warns against danger
Psalm 37:23
A. Through His Word Psalm 119:105
God never guides contrary to Scripture.
If a decision violates God’s Word, it is not divine direction.
B. Through the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit:
Convicts
Leads
Warns
Gives peace
Romans 8:14
C. Through Godly Counsel
Proverbs 11:14
D. Through Circumstances
Sometimes God:
Opens doors
Closes doors
Delays answers
Redirects plans
Closed doors can also be divine protection.
Illustration: Joseph’s Journey
Joseph experienced:
Betrayal
Slavery
Prison
Yet God was directing his path toward leadership in Egypt.
What looked like delay was actually divine preparation.
3. “Be Not Wise in Thine Own Eyes” (Verse 7)
One of the greatest dangers in life is pride.
A person who is wise in his own eyes:
Rejects correction
Depends only on intellect
Ignores God
Trusts self completely
Proverbs 16:18
Illustration: The Titanic
The Titanic was called:
“The ship that cannot sink.”
Human confidence ignored warnings.
Yet it sank on its first voyage.
Pride blinds people to danger.
Spiritual Pride Is Dangerous
Some believers think:
“I already know enough.”
“Nobody can correct me.”
“I can handle temptation.”
That attitude leads to downfall.
1 Corinthians 10:12
“Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”
4. “Fear the Lord, and Depart from Evil”
The fear of the Lord means:
Reverence for God
Respect for His authority
Hatred for sin
Desire to obey Him
Proverbs 8:13
“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil.”
A person cannot truly fear God while comfortably living in
sin.
What Does It Mean to Depart from Evil?
It means:
Avoiding sinful environments
Rejecting compromise
Turning away from temptation
Choosing righteousness daily
Illustration: Joseph and Potiphar’s Wife
When tempted, Joseph did not negotiate with sin. He fled.
Genesis 39:9
“How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against
God?”
Sometimes victory comes by running from temptation, not
debating with it.
5. The Blessing of Obedience (Verse 😎
“It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.”
This speaks of:
Spiritual health
Emotional stability
Inner strength
Wholeness
Sin weakens people spiritually and emotionally. Walking
with God brings restoration.
The Connection Between Spiritual and Inner Health
Bitterness, rebellion, anxiety, and hidden sin can drain
strength.
But trusting God brings:
Peace
Stability
Rest
Isaiah 26:3
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is
stayed on thee.”
Illustration: A Tree by Water
Psalm 1:3
“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.”
A tree near water remains:
Green
Stable
Fruitful
Likewise, believers connected to God remain spiritually
healthy even during difficult seasons.
Practical Lessons from Proverbs 3:6–8
1. Pray Before Making Decisions
Do not move ahead without God.
2. Stop Leaning Only on Human Understanding
Education and experience are useful, but limited.
3. Develop Sensitivity to God’s Voice
Spend time in:
Prayer
Worship
Scripture meditation
4. Walk in Humility
Remain teachable.
5. Separate from Evil
Holiness preserves spiritual strength.
Signs Someone Is Ignoring God’s Direction
Constant confusion
Repeated bad decisions
Pride
Prayerlessness
Persistent compromise
Refusal to accept correction
Jesus: The Perfect Example of Submission
Jesus Christ acknowledged the Father in all things.
John 5:30
“I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father.”
Even in Gethsemane He prayed:
“Not my will, but thine, be done.”
If Jesus depended on the Father, how much more should we?

PREACHER: ELDER ROSEMARY
TOPIC:CAIN AND ABEL OFFERING.
1And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. 6And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
Cain Murders Abel
8And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? 10And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. 11And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. 13And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. 15And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
16And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
