๐ง๐ทThe miracle happened again!
These images come to us from Naples Cathedral, where Archbishop Dom Domenico Battaglia witnessed with thousands of faithful the miracle of the liquefaction of the blood of โSan Gennaroโ (Saint Januarius), patron saint of the city, on the day the Church celebrates his liturgical memory. The blood liquefied at 10:04 am (local time).
Saint Januarius was Bishop of Benevento and martyr for the faith, in 305, during the persecutions of Diocletian.
The miracle is repeated three times a year: on the first Saturday in May, in memory of the first translation; on September 19, liturgical memory of the Saint and date of his martyrdom; and on December 16, to commemorate the disastrous eruption of Vesuvius in 1631, blocked by the intercession of the Saint.
When it does not occur, it is linked to bad signs. The last time was on December 16, 2020, during the pandemic.
๐ฎ๐น Oggi, 19 September, he is the pioneer of the miracle of the liquefaction of the blood of San Gennaro, venerated Patron of Napoli. This event, which happens three times a year, is considered a sign of protection for the city and its people. The ampoule contains the blood of the holy sleep custodied in the Chapel of the Treasury of the Cattedrale of Napoli. When there is blood, normally solid, si scioglie, accade il miracolo.
The miracle did not come only on the 19th of September, the date in which he celebrated his feast, but before the previous Saturday of the first domenica of the maggio and the 16th of September, until the protection of the saint during the eruption of Vesuvius in 1631. According to the tradition, if the blood did not liquefy, it could be seen as a Negative segno per la citta, come accaduto in 1980 little before the Irpinian earthquake.
