Gospel of the Day (Luke 2,41-51)

Each year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover,
and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom.
After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it.
Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances,
but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions,
and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers.
When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety."
And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"
But they did not understand what he said to them.
He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart.

✈️🇪🇸 Welcome back, Santo Padre!

Following the engine failure of the Iberia Airbus A320 which was supposed to take him back to Rome from Tenerife, Pope Leo XIV will return to the Italian capital aboard the aircraft of the King of Spain, kindly made at his disposal by His Majesty.

The plane took off at 6:08 p.m. (local time) and should arrive in Rome around 11 p.m., Rome, according to the Santa Se press room. Santa Sé staff and journalists from the papal flight will return in the next few hours in another plane made available by Iberia.

Thus ends, in an unprecedented way, after seven days, the fourth international apostolic trip of Leo XIV, at the North Tenerife-Los Rodeos airport. The journey took the Pontiff to Spain between June 6 and 12.

The departure was delayed due to a technical problem with the engine of the Airbus A320 from Iberia. The take-off procedure began around 4.15 p.m. (local time), already over an hour late. Shortly later, however, the access ladder was repositioned next to the aircraft, and the Pope was led back to the VIP room of the airport by King Philip VI, who had bid farewell to him moments earlier. Shortly after, they also disembarked the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, in addition to the other cardinals and bishops who integrated the papal entourage.

Lion XIV arrived at the airport around 15:45 (local time), where he was received by King Philip VI of Spain, some local authorities and the delegation of the local Church. After the ex*****on of the national anthems and flag honors, the Pope and the king reviewed the Guard of Honor and then greeted their respective delegations.

Among the Spanish authorities present on the runway were the government spokesman and minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, and the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo. At the foot of the plane's stairs occurred what should have been the final farewell between the Pontiff and the Spanish sovereign, before the postponement of the departure.

We are all migrants!

Visiting the "Las Raíces" reception center in Tenerife, the last leg of his trip to Spain, Leo XIV listened to the testimony of migrants, who ask for the opportunity to live with dignity.

The Pope quoted Saint Joseph of Anchieta, who left from the Canary Islands "to announce the Gospel in America, opening new missionary horizons". was also a who headed for the unknown, "taking as main luggage faith, hope and charity".

In those unknown lands, the migrant saints and missionaries knew how to give what they had and, at the same time, welcome what was offered to them. The Holy Father invited migrants to do the same, offering up the treasure of humanity, dreams, and culture they brought to these islands, and to be open to receive all that is presented to them.

"Dear brothers and sisters, we are all - in a way - migrants, we are all pilgrims on the way to the heavenly homeland. Let's help each other to make this crossing a more humane place for all by contributing whatever is within our reach. In this regard, I am grateful for the collaboration on the part of the , the various institutions and so many men and women of goodwill who make possible this concrete humanitarian aid, which brings hope and dignity to so many people. ”
