🔑📖KEY VERSE: HEBREWS 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremonger s and adulterers God will judge.

Marriage was instituted by God from the beginning of the creation of man. God Himself said it is not good that the man should be alone. He made a woman to be man’s companion as a wife. Therefore, when you come of age as a man you need to marry. Similarly, a woman needs to be a wife to a man when she comes to that age.

Marriage is a good and honourable thing. That a man gets married to a woman is something that God, angels, men and women on earth honour. If the departed saints would hear of it, they would honour it. The church and society honour it. The parents of both spouses honour it.

There is a respect the world gives to those who are married, whether they are educated or not, rich or poor, godly or not. There is an honour your parents and relations want to give you; there is an honour the church and the community will want to give you on your wedding day.

People will travel far to give you honour on your wedding day. Of course, there is another day like that when people shall come to give you the last honour; that is the day of your burial. The world will want to pay you last homage and honour on the day of your burial.

The honour you receive on the day of marriage is better than that on the day of burial because, in the day of burial, you will not be there, but gone into eternity. The honour of your marriage comes when you are still alive and may kindle several honours that will follow you.

It is the day the society gives you another grade in life. All the wayward women will remove their eyes from you; all those that disdain you will say, “She has entered the seat of honour.” That is on the day of your marriage.

“Marriage is honourable in all.” Therefore, we must think, plan and pray for it. You cannot afford to sit idle as if nothing is supposed to happen in your life when you come to marriageable age.

📜📜 *TEXT: JEREMIAH 29:11-14*

11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

13. And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.

14. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

🔑📖 *KEY VERSE: _Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD._*
(Proverbs 18:22)

God said here that He will turn your captivity away from you. *Whatever renders you captive that you cannot marry will be taken away from you.* He wants you to marry. Forget the fact that you are alone in that nation. God has said you will marry. Forget the fact that you are a young person sitting in a congregation and every other person is married and you do not see a single lady there.

Forget that fact because the creator said you will marry. Forget the fact that you are a widow and many young ladies are around. You may think, *“When will all the young ladies marry before they consider me for marriage?”* The Creator says you will marry.

Mobilize Prayer Partners *If your prayer alone does not work, mobilize prayer partners; seek prayers from men of God, go for prayer retreats, add fasting, the Lord will hear you and turn away your captivity.* Whatever witchcraft spell was decreed upon you to hinder you from getting married, God will destroy it. *All power belongs to God.*

*All power is given to Jesus to do and undo.* Seek Him and He will turn away your captivity. *You may say, 'I am not even interested in marriage', and you are of age. Then something is wrong.* If somebody stays throughout the day without food and says, 'I do not have appetite, *then a particular sickness is troubling him, it maybe malaria.*

When someone has malaria, does he have appetite for food? No. Tell that person that he has malaria and he should be treated for marriage malaria. For you to be at the age of marriage and you are doing nothing about it and are saying, *“In fact I am not even thinking about it.”* Then you have, *“Marriage malaria sickness.”* Get yourself treated. Prayer will handle it.

TOPIC: THERE IS NO REVERSE GEAR IN MARRIAGE

TEXT: MARK 10:10-12
10. And in the house His disciples asked Him again of the same matter.
11. And He saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
12. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

KEY VERSE: 1 CORINTHIANS 7:39 “The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.”

The law of marriage binds a husband to his wife and the wife to her husband as long as both of them are still alive. Divorce and remarriage to another person is not allowed. Whoever divorces and remarries when the marriage partner is still alive has no part in the kingdom of God. He or she is committing adultery.

“For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loose from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if the husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.” Romans 7:2-3.

If you are married to another person apart from your first scripturally binding marriage partner, you are in a wrong relationship and must dissolve it, if you want to please God. You should go back to your first lawfully marriage partner or stay unmarried.

There are those who say that adultery committed by one of the partners in a marriage can result to divorce and remarriage. This is a wrong interpretation of the scriptures. The issue being referred to here as basis of divorce is fornication, not adultery.

Unfortunately, some Bible translations replace the word fornication with marital unchastely. Fornication is a sin which is committed by someone who has not yet entered into the marriage union. The word of God settles this matter that under the present dispensation, no sin can cause divorce.

If adultery can, then other sins including lying or stealing can as well. They cannot be separated because the two have become one according to scripture. Those who desire to marry should study issues well so that the do not marry someone already married and get damned due to immorality. If you have married wrongly, such ungodly marriage must be dissolved.

39. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard His word.

40. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to Him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

🔑📖 *KEY VERSE: _In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God._*
(John 1:1)

*Mary and Martha were the sisters of Lazarus,* the man that died and was raised from the dead after four days by the Lord Jesus. The Bible makes us understand that the Lord Jesus Christ loves this family so much that He came visiting one day, *Martha spent time preparing food in the kitchen, while Mary listened to the Word at the Master’s feet.*

Many people today are carried away by issues that are not eternally rewarding and prefer to go for worldly things that will not last. Not just spending time to listen to the word of God, *Mary did something spectacular again.* At Bethany, she anointed the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ with very costly ointment and
wiped His feet with her hair and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

The Lord said she did this against the day of His burying. *Mary was always making the best decisions to the point that today her actions are not forgotten,* even though Martha and Judas Iscariot, at different occasions, were in opposition to these steps she took.

*Many may want to discourage you in serving God by their evil counsels,* but remain strong and continue in the race until you brace the tape. Always take the best decisions that will be pleasing to God *and record your name in the Book of Life.*

*The Samaritan woman,* in her conversation with the Lord, by the well side, ended up giving away her desire for ordinary water to accept the *“Living water”* of the Lord Jesus Christ which automatically turned her to an evangelist running into town to proclaim Him and gather people to come and confirm her findings.

Are you confused about decisions to take in life, or how to get good counsel? *Seek God’s face in prayers. Spend for the work of God instead of luxuries that end in this world.* Go out for evangelism to spread the word of life.

18. Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

19. Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

20. But ye have not so learned Christ;

21. If so be that ye have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:

22. That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

It is the desire of God for His children to marry according to His will. God is aware that the whole world lieth in wickedness. We are not of the world and the world hates the righteous; *therefore, it will be wrong to pick any woman you see for a wife or get married to any man you see.*

It is God that gives husband or wife. *Proverb 10:22 _“The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”_*

Don’t do it carnally by getting into a relationship with the opposite s*x that may defile you. *Avoid erotic play that arouses evil thoughts.* Depend on God for He alone knows the partner that matches you.

Be born again and check-up for hypocrisy on the other party. *If the person refuses to be born again, don’t claim you will convert him or her.* Parents should not force somebody on their child. Where there is resistance from the woman’s parents pray for God to permit but if it persists, God is not there.

*Don’t marry by correspondence (internet, phone call, pictures), for documentation or contract marriage. Don’t elope (run away) with a love-partner. Don’t marry a divorcee.* Allow the church to check it up first. Don’t be hasty without obeying the rules.

Control your appetite and get the best from God. Church barrier should not stop marriage in God’s will. *Maturity is required in age, work and preparation.*

Understand God’s method of communicating answers to your prayer. *Some dreams may be true. Inner witness can come:* a voice speaking to you, giving you assurance. It can also come by divinely arranged circumstance.

*Prophesy can come:* God can give message through somebody else to you (this does not stand alone, for it eitherg confirms existing things or other messages), take it to God. *It must give you peace or else it is not of God.* Seek counsel from matured and holy believer (in HOREMOW *direct your proposal to Pastor or marriage committee).*

BIG SECRETS IN MARRIAGE❗️👰🏻🤵🏻

Everyone you marry has a weakness. Only God does not have a weakness. So if you focus on your spouse's weakness you can't get the best out of his strength.

Everyone has a dark history. No one is an angel. When you get married or you want to get married stop digging into someone's past. What matters most is the present life of your partner. Old things have passed away. Forgive and forget. Focus on the present and the future.

Every marriage has its own challenges. Marriage is not a bed of roses. Every good marriage has gone through its own test of blazing fire. True love proves in times of challenges. Fight for your marriage. Make up your mind to stay with your spouse in times of need. Remember the vow For better for worse. In sickness and in health be there.

Every marriage has different levels of success. Don't compare your marriage with any one else. We can never be equal. Some will be far, some behind. To avoid marriage stresses, be patient, work hard and with time your marriage dreams shall come true.

To get married is declaring war. When you get married you must declare war against enemies of marriage. Some enemies of marriage are:

💘 Prayerlessness
💘 Unforgiveness
💘 Third party influence
💘 Stinginess
💘 Stubbornness
💘 Lack of love
💘 Rudeness
💘 Laziness
💘 Disrespect
💘 Cheating

Be ready to fight to maintain your marriage zone.

There is no perfect marriage. There is no ready made marriage. Marriage is hard work. Volunteer yourself to work daily on it. Marriage is like a car that needs proper maintenance and proper service. If this is not done it will break down somewhere exposing the owner to danger or some unhealthy circumstances. Let us not be careless about our marriages.

God cannot give you a complete person you desire. He gives you the person in the form of raw materials in order for you to mould the person that you desire. This can only be achieved through prayer, love and Patience

Getting married is taking a huge risk. You can not predict what will happen in the future. Situations may change so leave room for adjustments. Husband can lose his good job or you may fail to have babies. All these require you to be prayerful otherwise you might divorce.

Marriage is not a contract. It is permanent. It needs total commitment. Love is the glue that sticks the couple together. Divorce start in the mind and the devil feeds the mind. Never ever entertain thoughts of getting a divorce. Never threaten your spouse with divorce. Choose to remain married. God hates divorce.

Every marriage has a price to pay. Marriage is like a bank account. It is the money that you deposit that you withdraw. If you don't deposit love, peace and care into your marriage, you are not a candidate for a blissful home.

So today let us pray for our marriages. Send to those you care about because you never know who you may be helping.

*God has prepared someone somewhere for you.* He wants you to believe and rely on Him to lead you to that person. When you have surrendered your life to Him, He expects you to be asking Him in fervent prayer for His choice for you. *The following are ways you can receive your future partner from God:*

*The Need for Importunate Prayer for God’s Choice*: In Luke 11:5-8, Jesus told a parable of a man who had a friend. This man was visited by a stranger at midnight and he had no food to give that visitor. He went to his friend that night and knocked saying, 'Friend, I have a visitor but have nothing to set before him. Can you give me some food for my visitor? Due to his importunate knocking, he wearied his friend who though was not willing, woke up and met his need. God is saying, *if you don’t give up, He will give you a good marriage partner.*

*Let nothing be strong enough to cause you not to pray.*

*Anything that takes you away from prayer is not of God.*

**When you succeed, pray.*

*When you fail, pray even more.*

*When you are tired, pray.*

*When you are weak, pray*

*When you are sound in spirit, pray.*

*When you are happy, pray.*

*When you are sad, pray.*

*If you are living in holiness, pray.*

*When you are entangled in a sin, still pray.*

*When you feel guilty of a sin, pray.*

*When you are mocked, pray.*

*When you are hated, pray*

*When you are loved, pray.*

*When you plan to pray, start praying before you reach the time you planned to pray.*

*Pray during your prayer time, pray before your prayer time and pray after your prayer time. God hears all prayers whether in your prayer time or out of your prayer time, He hears!*

*When you wake up before your alarm, pray.*

*When you wake up after your alarm, don't be guilty, still pray.*

*Pray in season and pray out of season.*

*Don't just talk prayer, don't just plan prayer and don't just wish to pray. Start praying now.*

*Pray everyday! Pray in your schedule and out of your schedule.*

*God is far from the prayerless and closer to the prayerful.*

*Nothing is an excuse for 'prayerlessness', not your sin, not your failure, not your falling, not your mistakes, not your guilt and not your pain, not your tears.*

*Everything that happens to you has one message, PRAY.*

*Prayer draws God to you.*

*Prayer purifies you.*

*Prayer brings forgiveness.*

*Prayers brings power.*

*Prayer brings breakthrough.*

*Prayer brings healing.*

DEAR GOD

*TEXT*: EPHESIANS 5:22-26

22. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

24. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

25. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it;

26. That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

*1*. Avoid Pride. Pride goes before a fall. Do not become proud because of your beauty. Do not be proud because you earn much money. Do not be proud because you are from a royal family and the other person is from a poor family. Do not allow these things to affect your attitude. They are immaterial. Your spouse is saved by grace. You are saved by grace. Your spouse has access to the God of heaven as you have access to the God of heaven. Who maketh thee to differ one from another? What do you have that you were not given? (1 Corinthians 4:7).

*2*. Avoid anger. Proverbs 22:24; Make not friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go. Relationship is terrible when your spouse is an angry person. It makes the other partner live as a slave and lose respect. Hence, fear takes over the relationship and love is affected. Why do you terrify a fellow creature? Is it not Satan that likes to terrify people as a roaring lion? Do not scare people. Remove anger from your life.

*3*. Avoid Insecurity. Why are you so insecure? “The reason I hide my money from my wife is because if she knows that I have money, she would kill me and become a rich widow.” “If my husband knows I have money, he will not allow me to do anything in my father’s house.” Those things are from the devil. They hinder heaven and righteousness. He that walketh in the truth taketh pleasure to come to the light, that his deeds might be made manifest that they are done in the light *(John 3:21)*. Make your life free. Do not fear. God will protect you.

*4*. Avoid Evil Speaking. Avoid all evil speaking, backbiting and gossip. Let us be careful and be wise. Be slow to speak *(James 1: 19)*. A wise man holdeth his own tongue *(Proverbs 17:28; 29:11)*.

*GOD MADE MARRIAGE FOR THE FLESH, NOT FOR THE SOUL*

📜📜 *TEXT: GENESIS 2: 21-25*

21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

🔑📖 *KEY VERSE: _And he answered and said unto them, Have you not read, that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female._*
(Matthew 19:4)

There are many who think they are in a marriage relationship when actually it is not so by the scriptural standard. *Where the Bible has not proved such a relationship to be a marriage, the continued cohabitation of the two on the assumption that they are husband and wife is seen by God as fornication or adultery.*

*Oneness in marriage relationship is only a matter of the flesh, not in the soul.* Our text today shows a husband and his wife are one flesh in marriage. When God created the man, he became a living soul when He breathed into him. The woman also became a living soul when God breathed into her. They are different. God says, *“All souls are mine. The soul that sinneth, it shall die”.*

Marriage is not the two partners becoming one spirit or one soul but one flesh. We talk about the flesh when we refer to the physical. *We talk about the soul and the spirit when we refer to the spiritual.* It goes therefore that, that which cannot be seen with the naked eyes, is not in the equation of marriage. Rather, marriage only relates to that which can be seen with the naked eyes.

Marriage joins the man and woman together which we can see and touch but not their souls which we can neither see nor touch. *Therefore, the authority of the man over the woman is limited to matters of the flesh.* It is not in everything that the man can exercise authority over the woman because the spirit is accountable to God only.

*Man! Let the woman serve God the way she wants because she will defend it before her God.* The same thing goes for the man. *Woman! You cannot force the man to do your will. No!* He has a soul. That soul is accountable to God. The man has a spirit accountable to God. The spirit is not to do your will. *Both the spirit and the soul of the man and the woman are to do the will of God.*
